Not to justify Buch's crosscheck, but looked like Mantha was going for his own high crosscheck, too, so I'm sure he was suspecting some physical contact. Definitely not a crosscheck to the face though..!

I think Parros will give Buchnevich at least a one game suspension and stick it to the Rangers, lol...Buch did leave his feet to get on top of Mantha's arms to deliver it.

Unless somebody does something "old school" Wilson will continue on his merry way because he's the toughest guy on both those teams

By quite some distance, which is why he gave Smith a beatdown

Good? The guy they want after beat the ever loving crap out of Smith after he attacked him

That will show him

Wilson is laughing right now

Sometimes you have to fight even if you know you will lose. Fighting back is a statement that has to be made sometimes.

Good on them for taking on the beast, going down fighting rather than going down quietly

Flames announcers
Rick Ball: both teams have low shot totals with the Flames having only 9.
Kelly: I know Flames only have 9 shots but Helle has faced a lot of high danger chances.

Looks at stats, Flames have 0 high danger chances.

Yeah, there's no need for that blatant crosscheck to the face...heck if he wants to get even, do it to Tom Wilson.

But there's also never a need for Wilson to do what he routinely does. There's playing hard, even playing dirty....But Wilson construes deliberate recklessness, and often with intent to cause injury, as competitive advantage and if this is being condoned by teammates and then, apparently, the league as well - what's one do do? Wait until someone eventually does get paralyzed or get his knees blown out before something happens? I'm all for a charging cross check to Wilson's face as a eff you to the DoPs, then, each of Wilson's teammates get flying cross checks as a FU to Wilson.

What is going on Calgary? On paper they seem to have a really good team. What is in the water there? Shouldn’t they be motivated to be THE team in Alberta esp since Edmonton has McJesus?

nothing seems to be going right for them. And instead of tanking this year they will end up with a mid round pick and miss the playoffs.

They've been playing mediocre hockey since they got dummied by Colorado a couple of years ago. They finished 2nd overall that season thanks to career years from pretty much everyone so it was definitely an abberation.

The core isn't good enough to get them over the hump and they lack depth up front. They need to make massive moves this summer (Gaudreau and/or Monahan)

It doesn't help that they signed a goalie with only one legit good year as a starter at age 30 to a massive deal, only to seem him revert right back to the below average goalie he's always been. Their goaltending is worse now with markstrom than it was last year.

Pretty cowardly though, don't think Mantha was expecting that vicious crosscheck.

Mantha raised his stick as well so he was expecting something, it isn't great but once things kick off Cooler heads don't always prevail

They lost the game and the guy they wanted beat the hell out of whoever came at him, that's one hell of a statement alright

All they proved is Wilson is the baddest boy on the block and he still hasn't faced any consequences for what he did

This is what team sports is all about. Sometimes you have to go to war with an opponent even when you know you can’t win. Good on the Rangers for having each other’s back.

that roster is not working. Talking heads on TV picked Calgary to win the division. On paper it makes sense. On ice it’s a disaster. There is no flow in Calgary’s game. Like strangers playing with each other with different agendas.

Well when the Leafs fave the Caps in the 3rd round,;) , Simmonds first shift of the game should be against Mr. Wilson, just to pin him hard to the boards and remind him exactly what happens if he gets out of hand. Give him lots of nice face rubs after every whistle.

On paper it doesn't make sense though. Their "star" players are below average compared to most good teams, and they have poor depth as well. It's a very average roster of skaters that has received poor goaltending.

Most people in the hockey community know that you need a combination of skill and grit to win in the NHL. Will be interesting to see what roster changes the Rangers make this offseason.

They proved that they will fight anyone, even the baddest boy on the block. Smith held his own.
At a minimum the baddest boy got punched in the face and so did his team mates.

The game didn't matter.

If you look at the Buch high stick on Mantha you see Mantha going up for a cross check 1st which didn't give him any ability to defend against the cross check to the face. Buch just beat Mantha to the face otherwise Mantha would have gotten him 1st.

Also Mantha started the whole thing by chasing him around the zone and sticking him in the back of the legs.

That is the version I would tell Parros lol. Oh and don't forget to mention this would have never happened if you did your job right in the 1st place.

DoPS should be suspended. In all seriousness, Buch deserves a suspension, but DoPS messed this us, and is partially responsible for the game that ensued. If DoPS suspends Wilson as they should have, this never would have happened.
