To put it in perspective how easy it was to score back then, a good goalie had a SV% around .88 1980s NHL Goalies Scoring Leaders
NHL goalies were putting up Martin Jones numbers without the giant goalie equipment they now have.

McDavid would absolutely destroy 1980s defenses and goalies. He would probably break Gretzkys single season point record.

and if you had a Time Machine and took McDavid to the 1980s Oilers teams and had him be Gretzky's teammate then well 10 cups in a row ?

You have to put them on a level playing field though. Sure current McDavid breaks all sorts of records but you put McDavid in that era with 80s equipment and training regimes and it’s completely different. Modern players have huge advantages in terms of the equipment, training and nutritional knowledge that exists today.

Gretzky in today’s era with modern training, equipment etc would still be in a league of his own. He was that good.

The Sens are an absolute embarrassment to the league. Is that the 4th time they’ve given up at least 7 this season? It’s no wonder the goal totals in that division are so high.

The fact that they only play against teams in their division distorts the reality a bit. No way other bottom feeders like Detroit, San Jose or Anaheim would score that much against them. Sucks for Ottawa having to face highly offensive teams like Toronto and Montreal more than they would normally. First overall pick is theirs to lose really, they can add another great piece for their future.

NHL.com - Preds' owners 'angry and confused', yet don't plan on firing Poile for now.

Another kiss of death? Would be the end of an era if they axe him, he's been there since the expansion.

Their combined SV% from their goalies is 29th in the league. The 5'11 with skates on Saros leaves so much net open to shoot into.

At the price they paid to acquire him, Murray was an Ok gamble, but I don't know what they were thinking with that extension. He's going to be making almost the same as Gibby the next four years (actually more in the final three due to inflating salary) and has looked absolutely terrible. There are times where I can't believe how small a 6'4 goalie manages to make himself in the net.

I’ve been blessed to travel a decent part of the world
Tahoe is possibly the most amazing place I e been

but the Canadian Rockies are incredible too. What a spot that would be for a Battle of Alberta

Mark Stone high sticks his way to the box for 4 minutes. Guess he likes the lake side view too...

May as well have turned down the 5 on 3 given how bad the ice is. Now Vegas has all the momentum.

That ice looks TERRIBLE. Don't know how it's possible, but the ice in the LA outdoor game a couple of years ago was looking better than this.
Didn't have the sun beating down on it at over 6000 ft above sea level. It was covered. I wouldn't be shocked if they postponed the game til late afternoon, early evening

Yeah, no Reaves has zero impact in this day and age. He’s a terrible player who adds nothing except dirty hits.

They brought out the ice covers, we're done here.

Bettman says the game will continue later tonight or early morning.
