Another mediocre GM dug out of the recycling bin - makes sense for a team building from scratch, at least.
Seattle's best hope isn't going to be Francis, though, it'll be a collection of GMs ****ting their pants before the expansion draft again.

They should've hired Ray's Manila Folders. They would do a better Job as GM than Ron Francis. :D

Sure, hire me. I will take a nap on the first day of free agency and the entire week before the expansion draft and there's at least a greater than 0% chance your team will be better off for it.

my prediction is that Kinkaid will be waived at some point this season
I say January
I don't know if I'd go that far as to say he'll be waived at some point this season, but I wouldn't rule it out either.

However, it's a VERY safe bet that his NHL career is already between 66%-75% of the way through in total games played. He's more similar to Chad Johnson types than anything and Johnson is 33 and out of the league now. He's more than likely 2-3 years away from not having a permanent NHL roster spot.

One reason I don't think he'll be waived this year is because Price will probably play 65 games or more this year, so you won't really see Kinkaid all that much if Price is healthy. And if Price is injured, Kinkaid will probably still be up, because I'm not sure that Montreal has 2 goalies better than Kinkaid in their organization, when not including Price. So he'll probably be a very lightly used backup to Price if he's healthy and he'd probably still have a roster spot if Price isn't healthy, even if he's still the backup if that happens.

He might be okay, I think the real Kinkaid is somewhere between the '17-'18 Kinkaid and the '18-'19 Kinkaid. If he's mostly playing the weaker of the two opponents in back to backs he can probably handle that.

The “17-18 Kinkaid” was really only 6 week hot streak. Prior to the stretch his numbers were similar to his numbers last year at the bottom of the league. Let’s not forget by now-February that year there was a clamoring on here for them to play Eddie Lack.

Before his hot streak he was basically league average. Last year he was well below that. I wouldn't be surprised if he's back to league average this year.

No, he was not league average before the hot streak. He had one of the worst save sv. Percentages in the league prior to the hot streak. Last year was more of a regression back to his usual self than anything the hot streak represented.

EDIT: For example, his numbers up through the Feb. 13 game vs. Philadelphia he had a .891 save percentage. Even if you want to extend his "start of the season" that year until Feb. 20, his save percentage only shoots up to .897.

He finished the year at .913, slightly above the league average sv. pct. of .908. Which tells you how remarkable that run at the end of the year was. Still before that we was well below league average and if he were any good the first 4 months of the season (in particularly January and the first half of February) the team would not have nearly blown what was a sizeable points lead in the playoff race.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were saying. I was referring to his career before the hot streak, not just 2017-18. I don't think he's as bad as last year, or as good as that hot streak. I think he's probably a league average 15-20 starts a year backup, which he should be again if Price stays healthy (which is questionable).
