Pretty funny how Martin Jones is either swimming or beaten stone cold on pretty much every goal he allows. He's not even remotely close to making the save

He's really an AHL level goalie, he's being paid 5million more than what he's worth. Its so odd how they did absolutely nothing to upgrade their goalie situation.

San Jose may make the playoffs, but I'm not sure they'll be contenders with their forward line up looking like a bunch of AHL'ers outside of the top 4 or so, Pavelski, Donski and Nyquist are quite heavy losses for them. They have zero depth and zero cap space to improve the team.

I'll be interested to see if the team rally's around DeBoer, there is potential for it to get ugly quickly if their star players don't start showing up IMO.

It's always funny to see all those hyperbole threads being made after a few rounds of hockey. There has been a lot of surprises in the beginning of the season so far but there's still so much hockey to be played. Like last year Buffalo were on fire in the fall while Blues sucked big time and look what happened.

Blues had Binnington save their season. SJ has no one like that or they could have already tried one as a backup instead of Dell.
It can only go for so many seasons that they score enough to make up for Jones/Dell, the pressure the team has to score so many goals, the increased pressure because they lost alot of players.

Last year they made a gamble & went all in with Karlsson, sometimes it pays off & turns into a Cup, sometimes it doesn't. They had to, that was the last year they could afford to put together that kind of roster before having to give raises to the young guns & make decisions on their UFAs.

Binnington was a part of their turnover but he alone did not turn around the season. The whole team started to play much better under Berube.

Firing Yeo was something that should never had to have happened because he shouldn’t have been hired, he’s that bad a coach. As you said Berube had a huge influence on their season.

Also guys like Schwartz and Schenn were pacing for like 5-10 goals each early on in the season and Tarasenko was pacing for like 20 goals. That production from them was something that was always going to correct itself.

.... if a competent coach is re-hired. Something we didn`t and a few players had really bad years.

Anyways, the Pens are without:

Malkin
Galchenyuk
Hornqvist
Bjugstad
Rust

That`s a great middle-6 taken out of their lineup.
Hopefully we keep the foot on the gas against them, they still have some good players there.

there may be some bias here, but I think Quick is extremely overrated at this point. he's a below average goalie now.
