Larkin re-signed for 5 x $6.1M.

Wings compromised on term, and Larkin on AAV, it seems.

I remember reading Holland wanting 5 and Larkin wanting 6. Haven't been on cap friendly lately but wondering how much they could have stomached as a max cap hit with Franzen LTIRd

This has them using 3.2 of Franzen's 3.9. That is with only 21 players on the roster. It is going to be tough. I wonder if they go with 1 more <700k player and a 22 man roster or do they move someone before the season starts?

They will have quite a few of their albatross contracts expire before Larkin's 5 years are up. This should be their worst year. Vanek, Kronwall and Howard all expire. That's over 13 mil freed.

Is there another buyout period? Kronwall looks like a candidate. I have to wonder why that wasn't done already.

Great news for NSH, not so great news for any of the other 30 teams that were planning on UFA shopping in 2019: Defenceman Ryan Ellis has agreed to an eight-year extension with the Preds. AAV of $6.25M. Extension kicks in for the 19-20 season

It's Simmons, but I can't see him lying about something like that.

No more Mark Wheeler or buccaneering efforts for games where the Jets are on the national broadcast.

He would have been an UFA who is 100% worth spending for.

Setting sights on Gardiner next.

was it David Lee or Mark Lee or someone like that who sounds like an already-deceased sandwich?

Yeah, Mark Lee is the guy you want when watching paint dry isn't solving that insomnia problem.
Dave Randorf is your go to guy when you haven't got your minimum daily requirement of Winnipeg hate from Rod Black and Glen Suitor.
And for that special touch that only senile dementia can bring, gotta be Bob Cole. Sorry if that's insensitive, but this guy should have been put out to pasture (or ice flow) long ago.

Sekera is out "indefinitely" due to an off-season injury tearing his Achilles. A poor D-group gets worse for Edmonton.

Postma, Wingels, Bouma are overseas

Postma - Ak Bars Kazan - KHL

Other two - Swiss League's Geneve-Servette HC

But at least they have Russell to anchor their LD.... :sarcasm:
A classic case of a passable player becoming not so passable after a hefty raise.

Last year, he was not as useless as he is often portrayed to be, but at 4 AAV, that's a guy to avoid at all costs.

What's your excuse?

I don't know why teams insist on giving expensive contracts to players that play a touch better than your average prospect/AHL tweener.
