We might have someone better but we just won't get to see him, and when he gets to play he'll be so rusty he'll probably play bad. Not a fan of Tmac right now

If they hadn't dropped the first two games, Koskinen probably would have gotten the Rangers game but they needed Talbot back in to try and get a victory.

Seeing the gauntlet/caliber of teams they face, they'll be riding Talbot during this homestand.

maybe, although for the NY game in particular, of course they were going to play Talbot against his old team. Maybe Koskinen would have got Boston?

Yeah that could have been an option too and should have been the one to go with. On the other hand, it was game two of the seasonand you want your starter to establish a rythym. I don't like sitting the backup this long either, especially one that hasn't experienced an NHL game (regular season) in a decade or so but this schedule is nuts to start.

Plain frightning how Matthews tears up league with every shift, Leaf fans say he is the center of the center of the universe

watching the Leafs and Blues, I have say that the Blues will be great. There's so much talent there. This slow start is the calm before the storm.
They're better than their record shows , Marron has been one of their better players early in season

The Ducks get badly outplayed every game.
Yep. Their great goalkeeping won them few games early. Save% atm is 93,26 (probably still a tad high). They are dead last at Fenwick (40,46%) and expected goal % EV (37,7%). If they don't start to play better, there is no chance they make playoffs.

Stats via Moneypuck.com.

Edit. And their schedule has been butter soft. San Jose, Arizona x2, Detroit, Dallas, St.Louis, Islanders, Vegas and Buffalo. That is like 2-3 playoff teams.

I don't know about that as they're all injured up yet maintaining a 5-3-1 record today.

Gibson has been saving their asses. They are dead last in HDCA but Gibson has a HDCA Sv% that’s 2nd best in the league. They are giving up way more scoring chances than their opponents, Gibson has just been amazing so far. Conversely their HDCF is in the bottom half of the league but their team shooting% is in the top half. They are extremely lucky by capitalizing frequently on the little chances they create. Their PDO is also 1st in the league and insanely high. Both of those will regress to the mean eventually. That kind of hot shooting, terrible defense but bailed out by the goalie is not sustainable.
