Those 14 loser points for CBJ - that’s absurd.
YOU'D PREFER THEM HAVING 14 MORE POINTS BY WINNING THOSE GAMES OR WHAT?
I added this to the last thread right before it closed; reposting here.
NYR beating NYI in OT last night hurts.
Rangers are breathing down our necks and have the tiebreaker firmly in hand. We absolutely need to secure some points on Friday night and hope that Montreal and Flyers can beat Rangers in regulation on Thursday and Friday.
Luckily Columbus lost last night to Wild and play them again on Friday. With all of their injuries I believe they will fall out and wild card race will come down to us, NYR, NYI/PHI, and FLA/TOR.
I’D PREFER THERE NOT BE LOSER POINTS BECAUSE THEY ARE f*ckING UP OUR CHANCES TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS
Leafs are now missing all of Muzzin, Rielly, and Ceci.
Their defense is Barrie, Sandin, Liljegren, Dermott, Holl, and Calle Rosen. Ugly.
Philly is no longer in the wildcard conversation. The 3 Metro teams look to be about set to me.
I think you're probably right but I still included them because they are only 2 points ahead of NYI who have a game in hand.
IF THERE WERE NO LOSER POINTS THERE WOULD BE NO OVERTIME OR SHOOTOUT DRAWS. AND CANES HAVE TEN WINS OUTSIDE OF REGULAR SIXTY MINUTES.
This is a cutout of standings of the 5 teams in Metro that are battling it out under the assumption, there is no loser point because there is no overtime.
Flyers 26 RW - 52 points + 17 draws = 69 points
Islanders 24 RW - 48 points + 18 draws = 66 points
Blue Jackets 23 RW - 46points + 22 draws = 68 points
Hurricanes 25 RW - 50 points + 14 draws = 64 points
Rangers 29 RW - 58 points + 9 draws = 67 points
Believe it or not, Canes like the existence of loser points, because it allows them to gain the second point from OT or SO.
Maths vs feelings.
BET ON MATHS.
f*cking internets are serious business.
Come on. THIS ISN'T EVEN SOME SORT OF ADVANCED STAT. JUST ONE LOOK AT NHL STANDINGS AND SECOND GRADE ADDITION.

Removing the loser point doesn't mean you have to remove the winner point.

This is all my bad guys. I was trying to make a joke and I don't think the tone carried through the series of tubes. Just joking over here MV.
To be completely honest, I am in support of IIHF format, with 3 points for RW, 2 for OTW, 1 FOR OTL.
What would the standings look like with that format?
