A little. Not enough to justify singling him and/or the other two Cs out as The Cause of the Preds' woes - any more than, say, blaming Wennberg for October and November here.

Unless of course CBJ had 3 Wennbergs :P

The Jackets bit a huge bullet with Duchene. With Panarin's departure, they'd give Matt a blank check (if he wanted to stay). Something with this guy is broken.

We won our first series as a franchise with him. He has also won an Olympic gold medal, World Cup gold medal, 2 World Championship gold medals, and a World Junior gold medal.

I think he's fine.

Calvert scores a game equalizer vs Pitt tonight... that gives him 11 this season... The Pitt's went on to win in OT but I don't care... I want Matt back...

The Backstrom extension is, uh, not exactly team-friendly if he declines like most 32-year olds do. 5 x 9.2 extension.

I guess it’s a loyalty bonus

He should be fine for a couple more years. This is the price the Caps had to pay to keep their window open 2-3 more years, so it's not too surprising. Depends on how he ages, I suppose.

Paid with a capital P

EDIT:
It's funny because look at the Cap cap management and even with this, they're fine for their window.

Probably means no Holtby this summer, unless move a few pieces out. But Samsonov is probably better so I don't know if that's a big loss if they let Holtby walk.

Wow!!! Vegas just fired Gallant! DeBoer named new coach. I’m stunned.

Source- SiriusXM

Absolute shocker. For Deboer as well. Weird season for NHL coaches.

Who would have taken the bet on November 1 that Babcock and Gallant would be fired and Torts would be in the running for coach of the year? I would have, but I'm a freaking genius:laugh:

Gallant is going to be in the running for Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, Montreal and every other position that may open up. He ought to sit tight and take his time in making a decision. If he handles it right, he'll get the biggest coaching contract ever.
