Kinda funny how Ottawa fans used to shit on Burns' defensive game because he was posting similar offensive numbers to Karlsson and that Karlsson does so much "defense with offense." Then they get on the same team and you realize Burns is so much better at his craft, it's embarrassing watching Karlsson in his own end. Was kind of surprised he opted to re-sign there until I saw how much he got. I thought he would prefer to go back east where they dont tend to play as heavy.

Fortnight has been gone nearly 19 hours now and I haven't seen any team tweet about it yet, and I follow all the pro hockey teams in NA and English accounts in Europe, Major Junior teams, etc.

Columbus Day/Canadian Thanksgiving ends up in some afternoon games if you're at home today (or can stream from work).

Dom to the Devils makes sense, but we should be targeting Miles Wood instead of Hall.

We could maybe go for Wayne Simmonds since he's ice-cold so far, but I haven't seen NJ yet this year, so I don't know how he's doing on the eye test. $5 million is also a lot to worry about for a one-year deal. NJ could retain salary though.

Neal has become a PP specialist in EDM. 6 of his 8 goals are on the PP, but it's better to lead the league in the goals that way than to be finished.

His contract only makes sense because the Devils had space in the short-term and are hoping he can help there. IMO, he makes no sense whatsoever for our team. We don't need PP help and it's been a few years since he's been an above average player 5v5.

My thought on trading for Simmonds (and I'd rather go for Miles Wood) is that it's figured on what we'd be offering and what NJ would be most likely to give up. The money can be figured out, including NJ retaining salary, or a three-way deal where the third team retains (if that's in the rules), which would result in about the same price tag as Wood.

Dom as the centerpiece for a 24-year-old top-six forward is a stretch, but you can probably buy low on a guy who the organization may think is not being played in the right situations.
