Quite the communications outage in northern Arizona today, apparently. Around noon at work, I noticed my Verizon phone had no service, and the internet at work was out (I had to complete all my patient charting by hand, which... well, wasn't so bad, but a little more time-consuming than doing it electronically). The internet at the high school where my mom teaches had also been completely out since about that time. She also told me that nobody had cell reception through any carrier. I got home at about 5 p.m. and my internet (via CenturyLink, i.e. about the only halfway decent option in the Payson area) was out. Not sure if my cell service was back since I don't get reception at home anyway. Land line telephone service (necessary when you don't get cell service at your house, otherwise I wouldn't bother) was working just fine. Called a friend in Phoenix around 8 p.m. and asked him to Google some stuff for me; apparently CenturyLink and Verizon were having major outages across most of northern Arizona. Didn't ask or do my due diligence on other wireless carriers, so I'm still curious why essentially all communications to my **** town of Payson were essentially out for hours.
My home internet finally came back at about 10:30 tonight, though.
