They have the best winger, defenseman and goalie in the League (at least arguably). They have two great Centers, a ton of depth. Are they a modern day “super team”?
Even without the extra $9 million or whatever they would still be stacked. They're super over the cap at least.

Everyone keeps saying this. That's for a 34 man playoff roster, which is completely irrelevant.Closer to $19 million over actually
No it's 9 millionCloser to $19 million over actually

$30 mill taking into consideration tax advantages. So essentially the Lightning at a 110M cap team versus most other teams 80M. That’s being able to ice a nearly 40% better team than anyone else. It’s no wonder they are stacked.Closer to $19 million over actually
Can you imagine 34 guys trying to cram into the bench? They’d never fit!Everyone keeps saying this. That's for a 34 man playoff roster, which is completely irrelevant.

Isn’t most of their team home grown?$30 mill taking into consideration tax advantages. So essentially the Lightning at a 110M cap team versus most other teams 80M. That’s being able to ice a nearly 40% better team than anyone else. It’s no wonder they are stacked.
It is. And with many teams, when home grown talent gets good, they are usually priced out of the market and hard decisions will have to be made as to who stays and who needs to go in a salary cap world. But since the cap is irrelevant to Tampa, everyone gets to stay!Isn’t most of their team home grown?

They do seem to be a touch above everyone else in the NHL....it is going to be hard to knock them off this year.....perhaps Vegas can do it....
