I'm pretty sure it hasn't happened and if it would, the player doing the screaming would get his teeth knocked in. About 2 seconds in to the screaming.

What a weird question.

Uh.... probably not at first. If it happened a few times, it'd probably be called for unsportsmanlike conduct. If it kept occurring, I'm sure the league would address it a la Avery.

Pretty sure a similar thread last year existed about goalies screaming at players to distract them.

In general, they are allowed to, but if it starts to heavily impact the game it would fall in the wide discretion of unsportsmanlike-conduct penalties.

There's probably most effective ways to defend against an opponent. Probably tough to skate at an NHL level if you're wasting your breath all shift too.

I'm not sure if that would officially count as unsportsmanlike but it would probably Avery ruled and there would be a new rule the next day.

Sometimes I do this in beer league if I'm chasing a guy on a breakaway. I just yell as loud as I can to see if he ****s up. I'd say it's worked approximately 0 of the 137 times I've tried it

No it's not allowed.

It's called the "<insert name of the first player to try this> rule"

There's a guy on my ball hockey team who screams "NO!" from the bench every time an opponent winds up for a slapshot. Amazed at how many times it works

Depends on how many decibel's the yell is at. If the ref thinks it was too loud he can check the replay to measure the db's, if its over 100 it can be a 2m penalty for unsportsmanlike yelling. If it's under 100db's, then it's permitted and thus is sportsmanlike yelling
