I imagine some scouts are kicking themselves for holding the fact that Anze Kopitar played his early hockey in Slovenia now.
Never got the idea at the time, as he did play a full season in Sweden in a fairly heavily scouted league where they had ample oppurtunity to guage his skillset against fairly high competition.

jurtur,
Are you Slovenian? also if Anze makes the NHL do you think it will be big news in your country?

Yes i am , he already is big news in my country ever since he started playing on the national team at the age of 17 in division A . We can hardly wait till he gets to the NHL . As i said he is big in my country plus having such a professional attitude and humble character he is loved by all media and the fans plus he is a rolemodel for all young hockey players in Slovenia . He also boosted the popularity of hockey in Slovenia a lot ; so yeah we are all waiting and watching when he gets to NHL ;)

By the way , the Kings organization has gotten a lot of fans in Slovenia .

Anze Kopitar Highlights

Here is a great quote about Anze Kopitar from Daryl Evans(Kings radio commentator)

"Kopitar is one of the best Kings prospects I have ever seen" and also, "Some centers are playmakers and some are snipers, but Anze has the perfect combination of both"

Kopitar has looked great in training camp, prospects camp, etc. He has outplayed Patrick O'Sullivan and they are both probably going to be on the Kings come opening night. Almost everyone that has seen him play has said that he is ready for the NHL. He has been one of the Kings best players in every game that the Kings have played this preseason.

Here are some Anze Kopitar highlights for those of you that haven't seen him play.

Patrick O'Sullivan might start the year off in the AHL

http://www.unionleader.com/article.aspx?headline=Depth+in+Los+Angeles+could+help+Monarchs&articleId=bb2b0708-a646-4be0-980e-ccf884e819a7

“Kopitar has performed extremely well and certainly has been one of our better players so far,†said Kings assistant general manager Ron Hextall, who doubles as the GM of the Monarchs.

The arrival of the 19-year-old, 6-foot-4, 220-pound Kopitar from the Swedish Elite League and 21-year-old O’Sullivan, who was the AHL rookie of the year last season with Houston, has certainly increased the pressure-cooker for Kings roster spots.

O’Sullivan, who Hextall says, “has a few areas where he needs some work,†from the sounds of it will benefit from another season in the AHL. Since O’Sullivan is on his first NHL contract, he can shuttle back and forth from LA to Manchester in the event of injuries. He is not be subject to a waiver claim by another club so he becomes a valuable depth player.

Just taking a wild guess here...you're a fan?

I am looking forward to seeing what he can do, albeit I'll probably only get a few games in. From the small samples I've seen he looks lanky and rangey, in a good way that is.
