Just got back from 10 days in Yellowstone and Tetons. Crazy busy during the week and not so much on the weekends. We would enter park at 5:30am to avoid crowds and then chill until viewing critters in the evening. It is still worth it but man….things are much more expensive than 7 years ago. Homes have increased almost 50% this year alone.

Training people for the next few weeks in Memphis starting Monday. Know we have some southeners on this board, anything I should make a point of seeing/doing?

Hello all

Hi.

Training people for the next few weeks in Memphis starting Monday. Know we have some southeners on this board, anything I should make a point of seeing/doing?

I’ve only been there briefly, but their minor league ballpark is incredible. If you’re into it, their fried catfish is good, always worth trying out local bbq, too.

Last time I traveled for work was Minot, ND. This is a relative luxury. Doing it for the double time.

What hotel are you at and how bad do you want to do something? I’ve been a few times and was there last January.

Me personally, I’d just sit at the hotel bar after work until they close. There isn’t anything in Memphis for me to do or see for me.

Hilton Double Tree is the norm. Assuming that with a Cherokee rental.

I stand by my suggestion to just sit in the hotel bar nightly, but I’ve been there before and hope to never go again. I’m trying to think of anything I would suggest for you to do and can’t even think of anything. Not that I’m some expert on Memphis but even the things I have done there we’re pretty dull.

Lol that's what I did in Minot. Just thought their might be more in a real city. I'm not a strip club guy and I am going strictly for the money. A minor league baseball game and good food? I will travel for that. Work tried to get us for our normal eight plus OT with an extra $50 per diem. Enough of us qualified in the equipment turned that down so it's double time plus per diem.

$750 dollar days the next few weeks. Perks of being a crane operator that 27 people know how to operate.

There are casinos across the river in Arkansas if that’s your thing.

Memphis is terrible, although well worth the extra dough. Hang out in the hotel and bring a few extra books.

Nashville is a nice city.

Memphis, like most cities nearby, is good for a weekend visit. Of the places I've been to nearby, Louisville is the only other city that I'd comfortably recommend to Chicagoans as worthwhile of a week-long visit.

Haven't been to Nashville yet, though.

Been to Nashville a ton. Very cool city. The only fun city they have sent me too is Seattle.

Sun Studios in Memphis. It is a historical music landmark where a lot of the music was made in the 50s early 60s.
