You know, I am a huge Hemsky fan and always have been, but for some reason he just seems like he is refusing to pass the puck to Yakupov. I wouldn't mind seeing him with another setup man TBO.
Anytime a new player gets put on Hemsky's line, we hear some variation of this.
Hemsky hates Eric Cole from the cup run, he won't pass the puck to him
Hemsky hates rookies, he won't pass the puck to them
Player X is too slow, Hemsky has no one to pass to
etc etc
Now we are starting to hear it about Hemsky/Yakupov, and it's not in the slightest bit surprising.
After nearly a decade, it is blatantly obvious Hemsky doesn't pass the puck unless he's forcing a low percentage attempt at a highlight reel pass through a pile of sticks, or just flat out forced to give it up(usually by and to the opposing team). A real playmaker will actually distribute the puck and utilize their teammates to create plays, Hemsky tries to beat the other team 1v5 everytime he touches the puck, and is much less effective at it these days as defensive clutch and grab systems reassert as the dominant tactic in the league.
He's a puck hog that doesn't fit with much of anyone on this roster anymore, let alone an intelligent and talented hockey player like Yakupov.
