They did not even have the clock on the bottom of the creen during the fastest skater competition. You sat there and watched the guys skate around the rink then would see there time a minute later.

    Not very exciting at all.

I'm always disappointed with the Skills Comp period. It's actually really boring. All that stupid decade-old techno music trying to make things exciting, blah. "I'm not yer firestarter..." No. You're not.
Young Stars game was fun for about five minutes though.

The fastest skater competition was delayed at the beginning because they couldn't get that digital stopwatch thing working. They ended up having some guy stand near the pylons with a stop watch or something to get the time working.

Come on now, its a valid point. The nhl is trying to market a more exciting game, little mistakes by broadcasting companies like this do little to help.

I think more people are sick of the criticizing and bashing of other peoples posts then they are complaining of threads relative to the discussion group

I didnt even get to see the skills competition because my cable provider doesnt care Versus my area of CT. What a dumb move by the NHL to go to a crappy little owned station when they had a great deal with ESPN. :shakehead

The skills were OK but the young guns sucked. I would rather see the top prospects game.

Um, you are aware that they had NO deal with ESPN at the time, much less a great one? ESPN offered no money to the NHL, so no "great deal" was offered, either.

If you think the coverage on CBC was bad - it was much worse on Versus.

Just read the thread on the main NHL Talk board: Skills Competition = Atrocious

I don't think the clock on the fastest skater had anything to do with a CBC error. The clock was malfuntioning period, it was not shown on versus network in the US either. The timing was done by a guy holding a stopwatch. How is CBC supposed to handle that?? Not at all their fault.
