If you're on a budget, don't go to the typical tourist sites. Just isn't worth it. I would go to the Hall of Fame, Ontario place, catch a film festival movie, star watching, fairy rides, centre island, have lunch and dinner at china town. Visit the royal ontario museum, casa loma.

Just a few ideas for you. You should also ask around to see if others will be in toronto, maybe you can hook up and go in groups to events.

when you say 'fairy rides" do you suggest he hang out on Church street? or do you mean Ferry rides?

We are telling you not to visit Hamilton because it is in general a boring, ugly industrial city. You won't find anything related to Andreychuk. You can use any public transit in Ontario(it doesn't matter if you are a tourist or a resident). To give you more transit help we need to know the hotel you are staying at. Pearson airport isn't a city, its a bit west of Toronto in Malton (the Missisauga area) and there are tons of shuttle buses from Pearson to downtown.

It's a laaaarge Asian area.

Toronto is extremely diverse, you'll see someone from every part of the world here.

As for your Blue Jays question...

Jays play at home between Sept. 3 and 6...

Sept. 3rd: Oakland @ 7:05 PM
Sept. 4th: Oakland @ 4:05 PM
Sept. 5th: Oakland @ 1:05 PM

No game on the 6th, then a roadtrip to Anaheim.

Ticket prices are here... http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/tor/ticketing/single_game.jsp

The most expensive seats are $62.00 Canadian... so I guess that's $40 to $45 US. There are always plenty of seats available... so you don't have to pre-order them.

Leafaholix, Thanks for the ball game information. This weekend when I start planning on my day to day trip to Toronto. I will see if I can fill in some time to see the blue jays beat oakland, and i will have to see if I have enough cash to dish out!

Well, the new casino is geared towards big gamblers, but it's a nice place. They both have restaurants (some places in the new casino are still being finished) and the new one has a pretty neat fountain outside that does shows every little while, it's pretty neat to watch.

http://discoverniagara.com/travel/main/ This has the bus companies that run to Niagara Falls, I'm sure you can e-mail the company or check their website for fees, or call on the day you get to Toronto.

Thanks Useful Idiot. I will be sure to check out the new casino in toronto. as im over 21. 23 that is.

Hart_House_Ca,

Hey, whos the others your referring to? the fans of toronto. That would be nice if someone from there can hook me up to take me on a tour, if any one of you have the spare time. Always a pleasure to meet new fans! not obnoxious ones though. Which I'm sure none of you are. :D If there is any one. Please let me know. :help:

Wonderland is almost like our Paramounts Kings Dominion. Isnt it the same Theme Park, just different name?

Chris
http://www.paramountparks.com/

Yup, they're connected.

If you have a seasons pass to Kings Dominion, it won't cost you anything to get into Canada's Wonderland. It works with all the other Paramount parks.

Chris, I highly suggest you just grab a taxi from the airport to your hotel. Unfortunately neither MisissaugaTransit, TTC, nor GO Transit offer a very direct route there. Anything you need to know about your hotel area, just PM me as I lived there for a few years, and still consider it my home. Your hotel is not right in downtown Toronto, it's in the west end of Toronto proper. You will be right across from Lake Ontario and some lovely parks should you want some quiet time.

Since you're on holiday, take the streetcar from your hotel to downtown! It's a great way to see the city, especially if you're not in a rush. The closest subway stations to your hotel are Keele and Dundas West.

Please don't get your hopes up about Andreychuk in Hamilton. You'd be more likely to bump into players in the city of Toronto. it is easy enough to hop on a bus or trani from Union Station to Hamilton, but there is no Andreychuk stuff there I know of to make it worth an hour or so there, plus getting back. You could, whilst in Hamilton, visit the very first Tim Hortons!

The baseball games here are super cheap - you can get them for $10.00.

Kensington Market is not so much an Asian Market as an ethnic market. To me it feels funny writing that, because nothing in Toronto is really ethnic to me! It's not a mall but real shops, sort of like a British High Street. The great thing is that it is full of many small and ecclectic shops, that carry anything form real deli, cheese shop, bakery, seafood to vintage clothing, and even a yarn shop owned by a friend of mine. Just off of the Market is a great little street called Baldwin with some nice, not too pricey restaurants. It's urban taste with a small town feel. For great Asian food, pop down to Dundas and Spadina. A lot of places look like holes in the wall and aren't big on decor, but the food at most is fresh and inexpensive. If it's busy they'll probably sit you at a table with others. My fave one is Excellent Peking House - lunch there is about the same price as McDonalds but much tastier.

Another food tip, please support our hot dog vendors, chip wagons(french fry trucks), and the ice cream trucks! Those folks are out there all day, and the hot dogs are great. Where else can you get a meal(hot dog/sausage, fries, drink, ice cream) for under $6.00?

I actually live half way between the airport(Pearson) and your hotel so please let me know if you need any info. I love my city, warts and all, am love showing it to people!

Oh yeah... the hot dogs vendors.

You can get a hot dog and a drink for like $2.00.

Great food... and business for hard working people.

About Pearson, Are you talking about the Airport itself or a city named by it.

Pearson International Airport

tbboltsfan03 said:
About the bus, is this only for the residents, as it says. What about for the tourists like me. http://www.mississauga.ca/portal/residents/saturdayservice.

I'm not really sure, you won't need to spend any time in Mississauga though. You only need to use Mississauga Transit if you're going west of the airport - you wanna head east to go downtown.

tbboltsfan03 said:
:help: Which other bus transits do you prefer. GO Transit? As it has a route to and from the Airport to Downtown Toronto. http://www.gotransit.com/publicroot/fare/fndfare.asp#frcity.

GO is a transit system mainly set up for people who commute out of Toronto to the GTA and other local communities. Personally, I would just suggest you stick with the TTC unless you need to take another bus system to get out of town.

Don't know from my hotel vantage point. which is located on roncesvalles avenue. (days inn-toronto west lakeshor). <-- I'll be staying at.

Not familiar with the hotel but it sounds like it's in a nice enough part of town. I'm guessing it'd be the eastern part of Etobicoke, so it'll be a bit of a ride downtown.

tbboltsfan03 said:
Which is the nearest bus stop or train station from my hotel? do you know?
How about from Union Station to Niagara Falls, Does GO Transit have a route. Dont think it did?

I'm not sure what the nearest bus stop would be, although you'd have to spend all of two minutes to find it. There are bus stops all over most any street in Toronto - just look for one, get on the bus and eventually you'll wind up in a subway station. Foolproof. I would assume the nearest station would be something on the western end of the Bloor line, but again just find a bus stop and it'll tell you where you're going.

About Hamilton, Which is the home of Dave Andreychuk. I will be sure to go visit there. However far it may be from Downtown. Who knows, he might show up at the gate:)

Hamilton's also the birthplace of a lot of hockey legends - Ken Dryden sticks out in my mind, mainly because he's now such a successful politician. There's not a lot of touristy things to do and not much of a downtown core, but I would definitely want to take a trip out there for the sake of big Dave.

Last time I went to SkyDome (August 2003) the Athletics were in town. Jays lost 17-2. I may have to attend one of these games to see if the Jays can beat Moneyball this time around.

What I loved was how you couldn't use an escalator in Toronto for a week afterwards.

Man did southern Ontario really get screwed over during that blackout. Most of the States had their power back within hours, you could've slept through the blackout in NYC. I was out of power for almost a whole day, I know a lot of people who were without power for almost 30 hours.
