Hackett's having a real rough go of it right now in Roch and a real slow shaky start. Should we be worried or do you think it's just a little bump in a long road.

I personally am not worried but am close to starting to get worried especially with Miller rumors/expiring contract

What do you all think, I want to get an feel of what some fans are feeling right now.

It's too early to get too worked up. But, Hack's backslide over the last year+ is a bit troubling and worth watching.

Considering the depth we have in goal I am not at all concerned if he pans out or doesn't. I'm relying on Makarov for that Stanley Cup push in net in 5 years.

Sabres have some of the smallest depth in goal in the league.

It's not the numbers. It's how he's been easily rattled this year.

Especially since it's been pre determined to be Cal Peterson that leads us to the promised land.

Hard to believe he's the same guy that rolled out a shutout streak of almost 2 games as a 21 year old in the NHL. World class skill, unfortunately skill isn't what's holding him back.

The guy that can't get any PT anywhere? You're relying on him?

    Good luck with that.

Sadly, he might be our best option as far as prospects go.

    Maybe Ullmark.

Ullmark is a really good prospect in net, IMO. He's been on a pretty steep upward trend since being drafted. Of all our young goalies, he's the one I'm most excited to follow/watch over the next couple of seasons.

What exactly happened on Saturday that led to him getting pulled? He had 29 saves on 32 shots. Did he give up 3 quick ones, or something?

He let in two relatively close together, although poor defense was also a factor; and was then called for unsportsmanlike conduct for a hit to the face with the butt end of his stick. I'm not convinced the hit was intentional based on the replays I saw but Cassidy decided he would pull him after watching it himself so who knows.

No. Not worried. Too early. Same with every single prospect, rookie and sophomore in the organization.

Seconded. I voted him higher than most in the last prospect rankings and I expect him to climb again next time around.

I don't have any concern about Hackett.

I remember the Detroit game. People wrote him off cause he almost broke down afterwards. His done alright for himself since then.

Are you referring to the game from December of 2003? I was just a few rows behind the net for that game. Miller definitely got absolutely rocked, but he didn't lose his composure like Hackett seems to have the last few games (I say seems to because I haven't had the chance to see him)

I just remember the reports of him almost crying post game. I think Hackett will do ok, he'll mature and gain enough mental composure to right himself after a screw up.
