Kareem and Wilt were the same as Davis. They said they wanted out of Milwaukee/Philly and wanted to go to LA so they made the trade. LA traded Divac to bring in Shaq(who also wanted to go to LA). They changed half their roster with a snap of a finger.

Divac was never a top center in the league.

Wilt just wanted to be around Celebs, after all he had won Philly a title so IMO he had the freedom to do what he wanted. His lawyer was also a co-owner of the team and when he died Chamberlain didn't feel attached anymore.

KAJ wanted to be in NY or LA for religious/cultural reasons.... so he didn't force anything to LA, they just had the better offer. Like Wilt, he won his team a title so there shouldn't be any backlash.

They traded for both of them.... there was no "purchase"

As for Shaq... we went over this already. & while LA was high on his list, the clashes between him & Penny were a big reason why he wanted out.

Stick to the Raptors thread.

AD will just have to lay low until the summer, because he's not getting traded before the deadline.

Nothing prevents an owner from reaching out to any agent/player and tell them they are wanted in LA. LA being a prime destination for NBAers makes selling it to them the easiest job ever. Getting traded to or signing as a free agent doesn't make a difference. Teams in certain markets can always over pay to take players from smaller markets. All of those players wanted to play in LA and they got there wish. LA is always going to be a destination for self centred players.

First they put out that statement, which might've played a role in Davis getting fined, and now they've removed their best player from the intro video. I would've guessed maybe this means they're done with him so there could be a trade sooner rather than later but then I read this......

Any Lakers trade package presented to the Pelicans would include some combination of Ingram, Hart, Kuzma, Ball and Ivica Zubac, as well as a future first-round pick or picks. When that offer could occur leading up to the deadline is unknown. New Orleans general manager Dell Demps is "not picking up his phone," a source familiar with the situation told ESPN on Tuesday.

Ingram on trade rumors: 'Part of the business'

Unlike Butler, he'll probably be a professional but this is going to be so awkward for everyone if he's there for the rest of this season

Would you go all in if you were Masai? He took the risk once with Kawhi but he didn't give up his top young pieces in the deal so it was a no-brainer because he knows it'll be time to rebuild in a year anyways if he leaves. To get Davis they'll likely have to trade something like Siakam, Anunoby, JV (salary purposes), and a future pick. Davis would make them even more of a contender and he'd still be under contract for another year but losing Siakam would be a huge blow if both Kawhi and Davis left. An Ibaka, Davis, Kawhi, Green, and Lowry lineup would be ridiculous and the type to possibly give the Warriors a legit fight.
I don’t see why Pelicans do that. Siakam while good is not the type of a guy you trade AD for.

Yes, they swept them by employing a specifically tailored strategy that worked against the Blazers. The coaching staff and Jrue Holiday were the MVPs in that series, not even Davis.
Yeah that's exactly what happened. Gentry can be a pretty crafty coach, as evidence in the Pelicans bench+Holiday beating the Rockets at home a couple days ago. Absolutely embarrassing series but Rondo and Holiday were possessed

Pelicans were looking dominant to start the year tbh Payton-Holiday-Moore-Mirotic-AD; Randle was a super solid lineup that smashed some good teams.
They just got injured and that was that.

Pelicans can still rebuild on the fly and be alright if they get the right pieces. But AD leaving will lead to a chain reaction of other players wanting out, which is a double whammy for them unfortunately.
That being said, I'll take Randle plz

if Shaq played today he probably would have been in Orlando for a least 6 years. Tmac and shaq had the ability to be free agents after 3 years

This why Demps sucks at his job.

had a feeling the pelicans would take the petty route through all this. and i'm pretty sure football has a lot to do with it as well

also, looks like the rest of the league b*tching and whining about AD potentially being a laker is working

I think he's better than all of those Lakers guys. Celtics can obviously do better if they put Tatum in a deal and so can a team like the Knicks if they end up with the 1st overall pick and are willing to trade it.

the fact that demps is now actually willing to listen to LA probably means he couldn't get assurance from that con artist ainge that he'd include tatum in any deal come the offseason and that NY isn't willing to include their 2019 1st

not to mention all the rumors of kyrie potentially leaving boston. obviously no point in trading for AD if that happens

Aaaaand now Porzingis is leaving the knicks lol, just crazy

Wonder if Boston goes after KP before the deadline since they can't really get AD right now

lakers offer is better than what any other team can offer at the moment

At the moment? Yeah, I can buy that. That comes off as an empty threat though and I think everyone knows it.

what team can offer better?

boston can't do anything at the moment and with rumors of kyrie leaving they might not even have any reason to make a move for AD
