I'm just looking forward to this ending so we can all move on. Hopefully it happens in the next week.
The Celtics part in all this is interesting. There's still an entire offseason to go and anything can happen like Kyrie staying, them trading for AD as a rental, acquiring Beal or some other all-star, etc. However, there's also a scenario where the Celtics, who are the team most people thought was in the best shape moving forward and possibly the next dynasty, become just another team in a hurry. Their dream was a Kyrie and AD pairing and again, anything can still happen but that seems unlikely. They passed on acquiring Kawhi, George, and Butler in part due to keeping the assets for AD and some other reasons. The Kings pick, which many people were banking on being a prime asset, is pretty much worse case scenario since it's the last lottery pick in a really bad draft. Now people are counting on the Grizzlies pick and there's no guarantee there either. It looks great right now but it's still top six protected next year and then unprotected in 2021. They're going to have two potential franchise cornerstones in Morant and Jackson Jr. along with whatever they get back for Conley and a ton of cap space so who knows where that pick ends up. Hayward returning to form next season will change things but if not then they have Tatum, Brown, and Smart, which isn't bad moving forward but it's a long way removed from being a championship contender.
