Rimouski wins tight defensive battle 10 to 6.

In a wide open barn burner, Rimouski beat Rouyn-Noranda 10 to 6 including 5 consecutive 3rd period goals.

The Pouliot-Roussin-Crosby line ended up with a combined 18 points.

That's

Pouliot: 0-5=5
Roussin: 4-2=6
Crosby: 3-4=7

As of the end of this game, the Oceanic now has a league leading EIGHT 20 goal scorers.

I hope the London Knights are ready.

Saw it, great game. the 3 goaly were so-so.
But there was many tic-tac-toe goals.. great game to watch.
Levasseur wasnt really good out there.
Roussin was there at the right time for his goals.. always in front of the net waiting for the pass.
Crosby was damn good... had the puck possession a la fosberg a couple of times.
Stewart played good, but showed he is not NHL caliber.
Coulombe impressed me ... he played alot because Scalzo had the Flu.
Pouliot was great as usual.
Doucet impressed me.. he have a wicked shot.

How many in a row is that now for Rimouski?

How many do they need for the Q record for wins or being undefeated?

they can't beat the record for the consecutive wins, as they tied a game 10 days ago.

I think they must go undefeated until the end of the season to beat the record for the longest undefeated streak

but I don't have the stats in front of me. I'm not sure of what I'm saying.

Their undefeated streak is at 24, running since December 28th. Which means Crosby hasn't lost a hockey game since before he left for the WJC. I guess I now know what he meant when he said "I learned how to win during the tournament".

Pedal to the metal.

Well,he's known how to win for a long time. He's been on alot of winning teams.
He reminds me alot of Gretzky how he's always giving credit to teammates, coaches
etc. There is no doubt he's learned more about winning from that experience
and I think it's probably helped him with his discipline and focus in particular.

I don't think Rimouski can get the record because I believe they lost 1 game in OT which allowed them to keep their undefeated streak alive.

When London was in the midst of their streak and I was watching a game on TV and one of the announcers mentioned that if they lost in OT they wouldn't get credit for the streak.

Ahhh. Thanks. Music to my ears :) He has had a hell of a year coming off that slow start due to the stomach surgery recovery. 100+ points and no injuries all year. He did everything possible to prove what kind of a player he is. Great news for Oiler fans!!

Crosby's got 5 points tonight now, another hatrick + 2 assists. He's got 12 points in his past 2 games. 64+93=157 in 59 games on the season.

Rimouski is up 8-1 in the 3rd.

The most amazing thing isn't just his stats themselves, but his stats compared to the rest of the league.

He's at 59-64-93-157

And the next 9 leading scorers are:

2. 67-51-56-107
3. 66-49-57-106
4. 67-39-66-105
5. 67-32-65-97
6. 50-16-70-86
7. 61-30-54-84
8. 62-39-44-83
9. 67-28-55-83
10. 67-39-43-82

When was the last time a scorer led his league (any of the CHL leagues) by such a large statistical margin (almost 1.5x more points than the next leading scorer, despite playing 8 less games)?

Edit: typo--gave Dany Roussin 107 assists instead of 57.

Rimouski....

Goals for per game - 4.70
Goals against per game - 3.48

Compared to London and WHL teams.....

London Knights
Goals for - 4.58
Goals against - 1.78

Kootenay Ice
Goals for 3.03
Goals Against - 1.92

Kelowna Rockets
Goals For - 3.04
Goals against - 1.92

My point being....if Rimouski doesn't learn how to play defense they will get smoked at the Mem Cup....assuming their offense alone can carry them through the Q playoffs

I'd rather watch the 80s Oilers play anyday over the 2000s Devils..

Except that doesn't work with todays teams because the 80s Oilers played vs other offensive mindd teams (who had less offensive players). Rimouski may be very offensive but unlike the 80s Oilers, they will play against offensive teams that ALSO play defense.

.

When was the last time a CHL player had 6 goals and 6 assists in less than 24 hours?
