Ville Koivunen - 24 NHL #51, -27
— expected him to go even later and he went to the Finnish whisperers in Carolina
Conner Roulette - 70 NHL #111, -41
Vinny Iorio - 96 - NHL #55, +41
Sasha Teleguine - 120, undrafted
Haakon Hanelt - 184, NHL #151, +33
Tyson Hinds - 219, NHL #76, + 143

Hinds is probably the biggest jumper in this draft, 143 spots earlier. Iorio was a nice jump into the 2nd round but Roulette is an equivalent faller

Our top two picks were selected higher in the NHL, while the later rounds didn't fare so well.

Yegor Savikov, D

NHL: Undrafted

As an added bonus though, Kings prospect Dmitri Rashevsky was drafted 146th this year after going NHL undrafted last year. I really like Rashevsky's potential so we'll put that in the green.

Hinds is probably the biggest jumper in this draft, 143 spots earlier.

I checked my list, and Hinds would be an LA King if we had our 7th rounder :ha:

Quite literally a hit-or-miss group for Columbus, but we expected that going in with so many late picks. Despite not starting our draft until the fourth round, we managed to get seven prospects selected in the NHL. That left four prospects on the shelf for next year, but we feel good about their chances. But I expect that gives me the booby prize this year for most whiffs!

Columbus Blue Jackets

Drafted:

LD Evgenii Kashnikov - 4/114, to SJS 7/199: -85
RW Jake Chiasson - 5/134, to EDM 4/116: +18
RD Gannon Laroque - 5/141, to SJS 4/103: +38
LD Taige Harding - 6/166, to CHI 3/91: +75
RD Ethan Samson - 6/183, PHI 6/174: +9
LD Tyson Galloway - 7/198, to STL 5/145: +53
LD Nikolai Makarov - 7/201, to CBJ 5/132: +69

Undrafted:
LW Alex Geci - 5/135
LW Marcus Almquist - 6/170
LD Gustavs Ozolins - 6/178
RW Alexander Palchik - 7/193

Pretty pleased with the landing spots of the guys who were drafted. Expected Kashnikov to fall, pleasantly surprised he was selected.

Disappointed that only one of my four forwards got picked. Hopefully Geci and Palchik get on the radar with a full OHL season. Almquist was a long shot given his size, but feels like a good late gamble. Out of 7 blueliners I drafted, Ozolins is the only one under 6-2. Wonder if that was a factor?

Olausson 28 and 28 = Even
Nolan Allan 79 and 32 +45
Aleksi Kosolov 69 and 78 -9
Dmitri Kuziman 60 and 82 -22
Willam Trudeau 125 and 113 +12

Cant complain about the class not really excited about Trudeau going to the Habs means hes likely a bust and Kosolov wont be nbt as the Flyers cant draft goalies for their lives.

Overall, I'm happy with where everyone other than Guenther was drafted. While he's likely to get a lot of opportunity in the future, Arizona is not exactly somewhere known for churning out high end talent. And the pick stings even more as it was the Canucks 9th pick from the monster Garland/OEL trade that was used to take him.

Of note, Merilainen was a '20 pick of the Sens in the NHL, so draft difference is in different draft years.

Similarly, last year I drafted Ethan Cardwell, and he was selected this year.
