Andy Serkis read for the LOTR audiobook trilogy and it is fantastic

I’ve become more and more of a LOTR fan with each passing year. Those films are IMHO one of the crowning achievements in film, my wife and I watch them at least once a year together.

I’ve always wanted to read the books but never got around to it. However the Mrs. bought the audiobook trilogy. I heard her listening to it while getting ready for work and without knowing who did the voice work I swear it sounded like Andy Serkis so I thought to myself “oh that’d be really cool if it was him”. Well it IS Serkis doing it and he has been doing an amazing amazing job so far and we’re only 3 or so chapters in. I’d recommend it to any Tolkien fan and I think it’s pretty cheap, only $20 or so. This is somewhat old news as it was recorded in 2021 I believe but we’re just catching it now.

Apparently it was pretty grueling but highly rewarding work. It’s been a lot of fun listening to Tolkien’s words come alive and finally experiencing how spectacular of a storyteller he was.
