The "derogatory terms for trying to hard in practice" line really stood out to me when reading the article even before I found this thread and saw it in the OP.
You don't have to be a professional athlete to know exactly what type of person that is and exactly what kind of culture they create. Those types of people are everywhere and in all facets of life and they are absolute cancer for anyone with ambition, making you feel like a loser for taking something seriously or actually caring. Can see why those types can really ruin the culture of a dressing room and how that spills over to the ice.
That being said, let's not pretend we can't all understand the temptations of going out all the time when you're young, rich, and an idol in your city. It's important to keep the Hall types insulated in a strong culture and not let them run the show with their little cliques. Glad to see Hall seems to have it together in NJ because he's an unbelievable player.
