This might be the most underwhelming comparison here in terms of the caliber of player being compared. At this point, it's probably Shore.

Shore is the better player offensively, but he doesn't really bring anything else and I like this trade still. Cogliano just puts so much effort into every shift.

Agreed. whatever small advantage Shore has offensively is watched out by Cogs being significantly better in every other aspect.

Cogliano can be a very useful, versatile player for a solid hockey team. He can PK, play anywhere besides top line and brings hustle.

Shore is just kind of a mediocre/bad teams secondary option for offense. Likely finds himself in the press box some nights on a properly built contending team.

Devin Shore has a year less on his contract. Think the deal that was done was Cogliano for Devin Shore + 1 year of cap flexibility.

Overall, I think Cogs is the better player.
