*sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh*

Isn’t the disappointment supposed to start in October?

I’m no doctor but apparently it’s a six month recovery time on average to just be walking normally, never mind playing sports at a high level.

Literally the only positive is we might have just gained 5.5 mil in cap space but that might be it for Sekera as a career. Absolutely brutal.

If it's similar recovery time to the football guys (JC Sherrit and John White), we're into next season country. And that's if he can make it all the way back.

In your closet
Stamkos was back in 8 weeks :sarcasm:

But seriously he's out for the year and quite possibly far longer at this stage of his career.

Well now you have to sign or trade for help. Really terrible luck for sekera

Were we really counting on him to be fully back this year anyhow? I thought it was more of a 50/50 proposition that he'd even be able to come back from last year's injury.

I don't even know if he was 100% from his knee injury yet. Not good to have to surgeries that mess up your mobility this close together.

I hate to say it but this is probably a career ender at this stage in the game with his knee injury. What are the cap implications?

No, my assumption was a full offseason of training and prep was going to leave him in a place to contribute as he did before the injury.

Of course.

Have to think one of Bear or Bouchard makes the team full time this year

Ouch. An already underwhelming d-core gets even more so.

What are implications for the cap? All 5.5 off?

It's safe to write him off for the entire season, as even when he does come back it'll take a year to fully recover.

So what is our backup plan?

He said during the season that his knee wasn't strong enough to play without a brace, which was limiting his mobility. He was going to use the offseason to re-strengthen it so he could play without one.

I wonder which Achilles he tore. What would be worse: one good leg + one leg with two major injuries, or both legs each having a major injury?

On the bright side ... getting Chiarelli fired and getting a good pick in what sounds like a deep draft is not the worst thing in the world.

Sucks for Rej, at his age, I think he's pretty much done.

Damm that sucks. Both for the team and the player. We lose a valuable d-man and this could be it for Andrej's career.

On the bright side, we now have 5.5m more to go and do something. Maybe even give Nurse the 8 year deal he wants at 5m.
