So far, dude has been worth every penny. Stability and skill count for a LOT in this game.

Hes a little overpaid but I think he's one of the few goalies who you could argue that he's worth it. Vezina candidate yearly and he really is a rock back there. We have gotten some great goaltending over the years and its almost like I forgot what its like to have bad goaltending. Also think the d around him has really improved over the years and I feel like that has also contributed to that.

1. Andrei Vasilevskiy, Tampa Bay Lightning
After winning the Vezina Trophy in 2018-19, Vasilevskiy (35-14-3) led the NHL in wins for the third straight season and finished third in voting for the Vezina last season. He had a 2.56 GAA, a .917 save percentage and three shutouts, and allowed two goals or fewer in 27 of 52 starts. He had a 21-game point streak from Dec. 17-Feb. 15 (19-0-2) and helped Tampa Bay win at least 10 straight games twice. During the past three seasons Vasilevskiy leads the NHL in wins (118), is tied for first with Fleury in shutouts (17), and is fourth in save percentage (.921) among goalies who played at least 100 games during that span. He played every minute in the postseason, going 18-7 with a 1.90 GAA and a .927 save percentage to help the Lightning win the Stanley Cup.

"No. 88 is No. 1 and deservedly so," Pang said. "When he was a first-round draft pick and (general manager) Steve Yzerman and his staff were building this organization, that's the building block, A-plus right there. … When a shooter thinks he's got him beat, not to be. …"

Every voter on NHL.com's 19-person panel submitted a top five for the Vezina, in order. A point total was assigned to each vote. Vasilevskiy received nine first-place votes and defeated Hellebuyck (two first-place votes) by 23 points in the poll.

"The thing with [Vasilevskiy] is he does everything in his life to be the best goalie he can be," Lightning goaltending coach Frantz Jean told NHL.com this month. "He wants to be the best goalie in the world. I've been with him since 2012, and there's not one day I have told him to step it up. He's all-out, all the time. Sometimes you have to rein him in. He's a phenomenon. He's determined, driven, the ultimate horse."
"He pays attention to details," Jean said. "He is really a student of the game, and that's why all the success he's having is not an accident. It's by design."

Is there a position in the league right now as non-competitive as Vasy has goaltending?

EDIT: Maybe Hedman with defenseman? Lol

Vasilevskiy stopped 79 of the 81 shots he faced to go 3-0-0 (0.67 GAA, .975 SV, 2 SO), helping the defending Stanley Cup champion Lightning (14-4-1, 29 points) move into first place in the Discover NHL Central Division.
The 26-year-old Tyumen, Russia, native and 2018-19 Vezina Trophy winner leads the NHL with 12 victories in 16 games this season (12-3-1). He also ranks second among goaltenders with at least five appearances in both goals-against average (1.75) and save percentage (.938), behind only Vegas’ Marc-Andre Fleury (1.59 GAA, .941 SV%).
