Wich lines will Max Comtois play next year . Whats his upside ? How many points next years? Power play ? Pk time ?

Probably every line. I would say he will go up and down the lineup based on performance and what’s working. Wouldn’t surprise me if he starts with Getzlaf. He will get power play time (we don’t have a set first unit so expect around 1.5 to 2 mins per game) and some PK.

I would guess 25-45 points next season and his upside is a good second liner with a high floor if he can’t hit his ceiling.

Will he make the NHL roster?

Here's last year's lines:
  • Milano-Getz-Heinen
  • Rakell-Henrique-Silf
  • Jones-Steel-Sherwood
  • Deslauriers-Backes/Aggazino-Rowney
Would putting Comtois on the third line be ideal? Maybe. But you're also missing a player that Comtois will compete with in Troy Terry. Terry is ahead of Comtois on the development curve.

With Zegras going over to the AHL next season, it might behoove the Ducks to give Zegras a scorer on his wing while getting acclimated to playing in the AHL. Comtois did start to come on later in the AHL season after such a very slow start, both at the NHL and AHL levels. I have no problem having Comtois have more seasoning in the AHL as we're trying to develop scorers. Max Jones isn't going to be a scorer like a Comtois, but Jones is a banger with speed that fits on the third line.

It's possible that Comtois beats out Terry AND Milano for an NHL roster spot. That would be great for the Ducks because Comtois earned the spot. We can only hope that Comtois does develop into an NHL scorer.

Presuming Comtois doesn't start with the NHL club, then here's what youthful notables we have cooking in our system:

Scoring forwards: C Zegras (AHL), LW Comtois (AHL), LW Tracy (juniors, WHL)
Grinders: C Lundestrom (AHL), C Groulx (AHL), F Bandini (AHL/FO specialist)

The Ducks have three picks in the top 36 selections in the upcoming 2020 NHL draft, Anaheim will probably add another a potential scorer into the system. GM Murray has several potential high talents already spread across the NHL and AHL systems along with one in juniors right now. Murray can continue to add another or two to the organization. We're just waiting on the youth to rise, knowing not all will reach high expectations.

Trading away the present for an even further future of unknowns feels like a vicious cycle of mediocrity as you're constantly chasing golden tickets like the Oilers for over a decade with a plethora of top-10 picks (a few #1 overall picks too). I don't comprehend how many people don't see that Bob has been preparing for life after the Twins, but our forward chicklets have been very timidly shy. Bob admitted his mistake of pushing the youth group too early with his many TDL acquisitions (defensive prospects too). Heinen, Djoos, and Milano have temporarily suspended the idea of gifting the ducklings an NHL roster spot or a higher NHL roster spot (relegating to the bottom lines). We're just in that awkward transition stage of growing the hair out from short to long (top of head or beard, same difference). Yes, I'm being optimistic. This year's team isn't the same one we started off last year, thus breaking the cycle of doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

It’s not a given he makes the roster out of camp but I’m looking at him competing with Jones and Milano more so than anyone else. Terry I think we will see take Sherwoods spot. Deslauriers despite making strides I don’t think will be an everyday NHLer either.

I think with a good offseason and camp he’s more than capable of beating out one of Jones/Milano (I think he was actually much better than Jones last season but it was more beneficial for him to play huge minutes in the AHL at that time). We are also going to run into injuries because that always happens with us.

I wonder if BM will take another run at Shattenkirk this offseason. He could be affordable, unlike Pietrangelo or Barrie, and BM already had previous interest. With Tampa's crunch, Shattenkirk may be ready to cash in on a deal as he had a very solid season in Tampa.

Vatanen is another option, I do like how he has rounded out his game, but I'm unsure if he is the PP threat that he was in his early Ducks days. Shattenkirk would be a better PP option IMO.

Shattenkirk just put serious offensive numbers so I doubt he will be cheap again

I hope he doesn't go after Vatanen. I think he'll do worse next season after he has gotten a nice deal this summer.

Shattenkirk put up production numbers similar to Fowler, and Cam is on a team with a very bad PP which had the 2nd least opportunities in the league.

I think the ship has sailed on him and BM should look at someone younger , like in their Mid twenties or even younger if he wants to add another Top 4D to help on the PP.

What do you guys see Milano resigning for? Something between 1m-1.5m?

I doubt much more than $1M. He is arbitration eligible which means Murray won’t have all the leverage but very rarely do RFAs who have yet to establish themselves in the NHL get much out of Murray.

Doubt the Swiss league will even be playing next year

Any reason you say that? Switzerland is in a far better position to have operational professional sports next year than North America is right now. They have less than 600 active cases currently nationwide.

I think every league will be playing next year. It’ll just be an entire season without fans in the stadiums though

The collapse of ticket sales and season tickets, and sponsors’ cancellations,” also Swiss government getting loans for soccer and ice hockey but the money cannot be used for above average salaries. Without the TV revenue and fans and sponsorships the Swiss and German leagues could have difficulties. Yes they don't have as many cases but to fill a stadium and get sponsorship by the end of August could be challenging.
