Just curious, what would Joseph's price tag be? Would love to give him a shot at C on the Avs.

1st round pick, Newhook, Barron or Timmons + 2nd? We have no interest in trading him unless it's an overpayment. He's cheap this year, cheap next year, still an RFA after, he's producing well, he can play all 3 forward positions, he's good defensively, he's not big but physical. We have a lot of other players we would probably want to trade before him so he's most likely not available.

Were Volkov's advanced stats any good? I feel like for such a stacked team, when depth guys get shipped out they often come out much improved with the increased opportunity (not necessarily comparing the two, but we got JT Miller after he was a 3rd line guy I believe, and look how he's turned out).
Miller actually played up and down our lineup in Tampa and saw quite a bit of PP time. He turned out the way Tampa Bay expected. That’s why they got a first round draft pick for him

The Ducks have more Russian skaters in the organization currently then they have had in almost 20 years now that this trade has happened. If he actually plays for the Ducks it will be the first skater in almost 20 years.
Sergei Fedorov?

I don't see it.

ABB is probably the next Verhaeghe. Volkov's AHL numbers aren't as good as either.
I can't think of a recent Tampa NHLer that he reminds me of. I haven't seen the flashes of skill that Panik or Connolly had, for instance. Haven't seen the brains and motor of guys like Verhaege and Marchasseult.

Maybe he puts it together, but he just doesn't seem to have "it."

Artyukhin was all size and speed. No creativity, no vision, no hands. hopefully Volkov is a bit better than that.

At least R2 was a difference maker, Volkov doesn’t have enough of the attributes you just mentioned to be a regular contributor

in Anaheim he wasn’t. I don’t think he even lasted an entire year in Anaheim. He was on the Getzlaf line as well as Selänne/Koivu and didn’t work out on either. But, believe me I’m not expecting Volkov to be an impact player at all, just hoping he’s a bit better than R2

He was like a tall figure skater and if only Artyukhin could fight & deliver nasty hits he might have lasted longer. Murray was still into that kind of player back then given they were still acquiring guys like Andy Sutton and Jarko Ruttu back then.

The all-time list is pretty short. Most of them stayed 1 year then left or got relegated to the AHL. The one who stayed the longest was Bryzgalov with 7 years.
So, 5 years for goalies, 13 years for D and 11 years for forward.

Anton Khudobin 2015-2016
Ilya Bryzgalov 2001-2008
Mikhail Shtalenkov 1993-1998

Vitali Vishnevski 2000-2006
Oleg Tverdovsky 1994-1996/1999-2002
Dmitri Mironov 1996-1998
Nikolai Tsulygin 1996-1997
Anatoli Fedotov 1993-1994
Alexei Kasatonov 1993-1994

Forward:
Yevgeny Artyukhin 2009-2010
Stanislav Chistov 2002-2007
Sergei Fedorov 2003-2006
Pyotr Schastlivy 2003-2004
Alexei Smirnov 2002-2004

Yeah, I'm just speaking to his play in Tampa. Guy was a beast, not offensively but when he was on the ice he was a wrecking ball.
