Allsvenskan is a professional league, ranging from junior-age kids to former Elitserien players. The Finnish equivilant would be Mestis, not Jr. A.

Yeah. Allsvenskan is good professional league and Jr. A SM-liiga is just a junior league.

Allsvenskan and it's not even close

More like AHL vs. BCHL or one of those non-CHL junior leagues.

Actually Fleury got it more accurate. I'd like to think Jr. SM-Liiga is closer to the CHL leagues than the BCHL for example. And what I'm sure of is that Allsvenskan is alot closer to the ECHL than the AHL. It's a bit better than ECHL but alot worse than AHL.

YOW
if you're a soccer fan, consider that the allsvenskan is like the npower championship in england to the premier league (SEL).

allsvenkan is pro. FIN-jr is not.

Allsvenkan is below SEL, sm-liiga, KHL, and the suisse NLA, but after that they are probably comparable to the other top euro leagues.

Allsvenskan is also behind the Czech Extraliga and the DEL. They're prett much on the same line with the Slovak Extraliga and the Erste Bank Liga (Austria). It's the best second tier league in Europe though.

While SEL probably is a bit worse now, compared to a couple of years ago, due to the introduction of KHL, I actually think Allsvenskan is improving.

The league used to have 16 teams now theres only 14 which has improved the quality, the improvement in the swedish development system is quite noticable on this level. Theres a lot of players that play a couple of seasons in Allsvenskan after their time as juniors to later move on to play in SEL and do really well. To illustrate this, of the top 100 in the scoring race in SEL, 12 played in Allsvenskan last season. Theres also 4 goalies that played in Allsvenskan last season among the 13 goalies with best save percentage in SEL. Quite a few of the current swedish NHL-players have played in Allsvenskan at onepoint of their career.

It seems like it's much more rare to go from being a impact player in Mestis to a impact player in Sm-liga.

By the way, the SuperElit would be the Swedish version of the Jr. A SM-Liiga
