No, "Blades of Summer" does not include the full games. It's pretty much an hour-long highlight video of the tournament, that was put out by Labatt's I believe. (I own it)

It's still a pretty good video (it focusses mainly on Canada, though it does show highlights from other round-robin and elimination games). But as far as I know the actual games have not been commercially released on video. (Unlike the '72 series)

I have final game when CAnada won with goal of Mario...You can get it via emule or edonkey...it is video quality

I guess so, except for Esposito maybe... ;)

Who was the Russians #1 Goalie in 1987?
Sergei Mylinikov or Evgeny Belosheikin.

Doesn't really matter as the only way they would make the Russian team is as a third-stringer.

The best U.S. Team was probably from the 1996 World Cup. Pretty stacked roster with everyone in their prime. If I had to come up with a team:

Forwards (12):

Pat Lafontaine
Brett Hull
Joe Mullen
Jeremy Roenick
Neal Broten
Mike Modano
Joel Otto
Keith Tkachuk
John LeClair
Bobby Carpenter
Tony Amonte
Dave Christian

Defense (8):

Brian Leetch
Chris Chelios
Rod Langway
Mark Howe
Gary Suter
Phil Housley
Reed Larson
Mike Ramsey

Goaltenders (3):

Mike Richter
Frank Brimsek
Tom Barrasso

Just run Emule and type USSR in search engine(select video to narrow search of course ;) ) and there it is...
There must be also whole 1972 series,1981 game and some other games but try searching with CCCP also to get all those...

I always liked the russians of the 80's. At least from what I can remember. I was only a kid back then but I remember some pretty amazing hockey.

I think I'm gonna buy it @ Amazon.ca

Did anyone buy those tapes? Are these the full 3 games?

>>> LINK <<<

That "Blades of Summer" isn't the 3 games in their full-length entirety.

Although I did buy the 3 games in their entirety out of the Hockey News a few years back.

If it is a fantasy team, then:

Bobby Hull - Wayne Gretzky - Gordie Howe
Mario Lemieux - Phil Esposito - Maurice Richard
Howie Morenz - Jean Beliveau - Guy Lafleur
Mark Messier - Stan Mikita - Mike Bossy
EXTRAS : Ted Lindsay, Bobby Clarke, Frank Mahovlich

Bobby Orr - Eddie Shore
Raymound Bourque - Doug Harvey
Red Kelly - Denis Potvin
EXTRAS : Larry Robinson, Paul Coffey

Patrick Roy
Terry Sawchuk
EXTRAS : Jacques Plante

That would be my team also. I wouldn't have those exact lines but I would have the exact players.

Any thoughts about Hobey Baker? I know he's a damn while back but...

It's also interesting to find out that Frank Brimsek is American. Goes to show you learn something new every day.

Hobey Baker wasn't a professional, which is what I limited my list to. By all accounts a good player, but hard to guage his impact in the big scheme of things.

Stan Mikita was a czech. I don't know if he had a canadian citizenship or considered himself canadian but he was born in Sokolce, Czech Republic.

Pretty funny to see that he had 154 pim in 70 games in 64-65 and just 2 seasons later he had 12 pim in the same amount of games !!!

Yes he was born in Czechoslovakia.

But he immigrated to Canada as a child.

And played for Canada for 2 games at the 1972 Summit Series.

Jesus, I've just finished watching the 1st period of the final game of Canada Cup '87 ... and I gotta say this is something unbelievable.

This is clearly the best of hockey I've ever seen. When you compare it to this year's Stanley Cup finals ... it makes me even laugh.

And don't forget ... Vsevolod Bobrov. He played in the 1950s and coached in the 60s and 70s.
This guy was unbelievable because not only he was the top Soviet scorer in ice hockey, but he was also the country's best soccer player!!! :lol

Is this true??

Anyway, i think you use that smilie way too much! There are others sometimes that are more suitable... it looks like you're always on the point of pissing in your own pants! :snide:

Here comes the swedish lineup through time, based on what they've done in the NHL. If european players where included there could be some changes. BTW, players on the first line don't have to be better than the players on the third.

Goalies:
Tommy Salo
Pelle Lindbergh
Tommy Söderström

Defense:
Nicklas Lidström - Börje Salming
Calle Johansson - Ulf Samuelsson
Stefan Persson - Kjell Samuelsson

Offense:
Mats Näslund - Kent Nilsson - Peter Forsberg
Håkan Loob - Bengt-Åke Gustafsson - Tomas Sandström
Anders Hedberg - Thomas Steen - Mats Sundin
Thomas Gradin - Per-Erik Eklund - Markus Näslund

Extras:
Fredrik Olausson, Patrik Sundström

When I think about the name Krutov what comes to mind is a fat little guy that got cut from the Vancouver Canucks. :lol
If he really is one of Russia's all time greats, that's pretty sad.
If you can't make it in the NHL, your not great in my books.

He was a truly great player, but he'd never been free in his life, he comes to the nHL and for the first time in his life somebody's not telling him what to do every minute of the day.. then McDonald's proved really tempting with their Big Mac's..

Had he been able to "live" with freedom, he'd have been great in the NHL too.

It shouldn't be difficult to understand that the Krutov cut by the Canucks was not anymore the same player he was and that is considered as an all-time great for Russia.
