roy (after round one, '93 playoffs)
giguere (detroit series, '03 playoffs)

i didn't think about this hard enough to have too many surprises (i only count one). placement on the team doesn't necessarily correlate to a guy on a higher line/pairing being better than a lower guy, i tried to make real lines: a punishing physical third line, a shutdown fourth line and third pairing.

Actually, Espo on a line with Mario and Guy is a bit surprising. It gives me visions of a veteran Kareem trudging up the court on the Lakers. If the fast break doesn't get you, the sky hook will... just takes a lot longer.

ha ha yeah, espo would have trouble keeping up on the rush. but two sharpshooters like mario and the flower, with their playmaking abilities, would be unstoppable with espo in front to shovel home tap-ins and rebounds.

it's funny to think of espo as kareem though. in this scenario, lafleur would be magic? or mario?

Mario was magic for sure... and would be "Magic", since he would lead the rush most of the time.
