There never seem to be actually assembled all-franchise teams. I'm trying to make NHL 11 more interesting, so I'll using CAP to make as many as possible.

Post your team's.

Hejduk – Kamensky – Tanguay
Lemieux – Stastny – Young
Drury - Duchene - Deadmarsh

Blake – Foote
Ozolinsh – Bourque
Skoula - Liles

Roy
Aebischer

All-time Anaheim team

Kariya – Rucchin – Selanne
Perry – MacDonald – Getzlaf
Sykora – Oates – Federov
Kunitz - Ryan - Lupul

Niedermayer – Pronger
Olausson – Tverdovsky

Is it based only on want the guy did with the team or can I give NJ prime Larionov, despite the fact that he was 40 years old and sucked when he played a season for them? :)

Nope, they've got to have been good with them. Otherwise Kurri would be on Anaheim :P.

Who would you put on the 3rd pairing for Montreal?

I know there might be some LW spot that I would give to C/RW but I would need to refresh my memory on those all-time habs team I liked to make way back.

This has been done before in other threads but is always fun.

Here is NJ:

Patrik Elias - Kirk Muller - John MacLean
Stephane Richer - Doug Gilmour - Claude Lemieux
Zach Parise - Bobby Holik - Pat Verbeek
Jay Pandolfo - John Madden - Jamie Langenbrunner

Scott Stevens - Brian Rafalski
Ken Daneyko - Scott Niedermayer
Paul Martin - Bruce Driver

Martin Brodeur
Sean Burke

If you want this to be even remotely competitive, you need to restrict to post expansion players only. Or else Montreal is something absurd like this:

Dickie Moore - Jean Beliveau - Bernard Geoffrion
Toe Blake - Henri Richard - Maurice Richard
Aurele Joliat - Howie Morenz - Guy Lafleur
Bob Gainey - Guy Carbonneau - Claude Provost

Doug Harvey - Butch Bouchard
Larry Robinson - Serge Savard
Guy Lapointe - Sylvio Mantha

Jacques Plante
Ken Dryden

I didn't even have room for Elmer Lach, Cournoyer, Reardon, or the Montral versions of Chelios and Roy.

Roy ahead of Dryden , everytime and forever.
Also , you can't leave Cournoyer , I would put him instead of Blake or Joliat.Screw the LW/RW thing.

Blake and Joliat are both better, regardless of position.

yeah , maybe , to be honest it's ''all-star team'' so I wouldn't put Gainey or Carbo ( personal vendetta against defensive forward ) , not even talking about Provost. You just put the best out there.

Cournoyer is the exact opposite of a checking center. Cournoyer centering Gainey would be hilarious for a variety of reasons. I guess you could add Cournoyer in for Provost if defense doesn't matter in this game.

If defense doesn't matter the last line could be:

Steve Shutt - Elmer Lach - Yvon Cournoyer

It's Yvan , not Yvon.

Yvon Lambert
Yvan Cournoyer

Just saying.

I see your point. I was thinking along the lines of an all-star team, but if we're making a well rounded team you're right.

Montreal D:

Harvey Robinson
Lapointe Savard
Cleghorn Laperriere

I'm associating Chelios solely with Chicago. Cleghorn could debatably go with another franchise.

Anyway, Detroit

Lindsay Yzerman Howe
Howe Fedorov Ullman
Zetterberg Datsyuk Ullman
Shanahan Delvecchio Aurie

Lidstrom Kelly
Goodfellow Stewart
Pronovost Quackenbush

Sawchuk

Detroit has too many centres.

how many years did Cleghorn played for the Canadiens? 4 years or so?

I don't think that's enough to put him ahead of Mantha or Johnson.

Also , you can't leave Butch Bouchard.

My Detroit forwards:

Lindsay - Abel - G Howe
Shanahan - Yzerman - Fedorov
Delvecchio - Ullman - S Howe
Lewis - Barry - Aurie

Have Datsyuk and Zetterberg eclipsed any of these men? I'm not sure. You can move Abel to LW if you want to include another center, but I love keeping the Production Line together.

Detroit had the best RW ever, but is severely lacking in them afterwards, though Feds and i think Syd Howe have played there.

Really not a great team for an O6 franchise, easy to see why it took them 50+ years to win a Cup again.

Boucher and Cook need to be top line for the Rangers, maybe even with the other Cook at LW.

You are right that they aren't the easiest.

Using what you did as a base, I get these forwards:

Bun cook - frank Boucher - bill cook
Lynn patrick - mark messier - Andy bathgate
Bryan hextall - Jean Ratelle - Rod Gilbert
Murray Murdoch - Edgar laprade - Cecil dillon

Sure I'm missing some. Still room for improvement I'm sure.

Yeah, hextall is on the wrong wing, but it's that or Graves...Clint smith didn't play LW until he left the Rangers.

Edit: oops forget Patrick, who actually played LW for the rangers, bumping smith. Smith can center the 4th line if you just want offense, i guess with graves on wing.
