Not a fan of Kessel. I just don't think he gives a shit anymore. He's a much better player than Dzingel but in the same mold. Just don't see the fit. He'd drive Rod crazy I think. Same with Laine but to a lesser extent.

Could they be looking at a big trade, Eichel?

I've not heard anything about the Canes being in on Eichel, but looking at our contracts, it COULD be done if we move Gardiner and the Svech deal isn't bigger than expected.

Normally I'd balk at such a huge contract, but even with 5 seasons left on it, he's only 24.

A lot of teams are out of the running for him since they've recently added players and don't have the cap room. The Canes might have enough though. Maybe we could even convince the Sabres to retain $1M of salary or something if we're up against the cap but really want to make it happen.

Just want to point out the analytics aren't particularly high on Laine.

He doesn't bring much to a team's offense other than having a good shot from distance.

I'd rather have someone with a more complete game, though I do know finishing chances has been a problem, so I can see the appeal.
Yes. It's just those his first two years in the league when when he was second only to Ovi in scoring.

Eichel we probably have the assets for, though I can’t see them wanting to give up a 1st next season with out getting someone else’s back.

1st, Jarvis, +++ is what it would take, and then having them take Jake.

Not even slightly because there's no top-4 D to replace them internally or FA, and they're on solid deals with term (which is a huge thing for the Borg). Likely it means Gards is out via trade, buyout, or IR concern.

The buyout window has closed unless you have an arbitration ruling.

Although I noticed that Yegor Korshkov, who was part of the Galchenyuk deal with Toronto, is arbitration eligible. An arbitration ruling there would open up the second buyout window right?

As others have said, I think Trocheck would be the logical roster piece to send to BUF along with Jarvis + 1st + another high-value asset (Suzuki/Rees/Drury, etc.) for Eichel.

For a healthy Eichel, I think that’s a yes.

Gardiner, you buyout after LaJoie takes you to the cleaners in arbitration…heh

I'd be fine with Kessel at about half the dollar amount it would actually take to sign him. I think he's a lot like Dougie, where people read his weirdness unfairly as an inability to fit into a hockey system/culture. Put the puck on his stick, he knows what to do with it, and that's all we ask. Let him be a PP specialist, that's fine. We know what he is.

But $6.8M? Arizona would have to retain quite a bit of that before it would make sense.

1st, Jarvis, Trocheck, Suzuki for Eichel would leave us around 8m to sign Svech. Dumping Gardiner would just help out to get our last forward signed.

Svech - Eichel - Necas
Nino - Aho - Turbo

I think that is pretty solid up front
