Given the year that it has been so far, I thought for the record I would include Roger Federer's career achievement page on Wiki just in case anyone needs it for reference as the year progresses.

Rogers Cup points are coming off this week (was earlier last week due to Olympics) and Djokovic will fall out of the top 4 for the first time in a long time.

Also, there is this article posted this morning about Djokovic needing to rest for at least 6 to 12 weeks (and possibly the rest of 2017). Not sure the validity of it, so take it with a grain of salt.

Hearing Novak has a bone bruise. If he does take extended time off it could be a huge blessing in disguise esp. now that he's in his 30s, has a family (expecting his second child in a few weeks), etc.

21-year-old Christopher Eubanks notches his first win on the big tour with a straight set demolishing of Fritz. A bit of a late bloomer? He looked terrific today, especially for the 461st ranked player in the world.

Citing "natural rehabilitation," Nole made no mention of surgery. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Classy comments, though. I don't know how anybody can dislike this guy.

Yeah it was a nice little video. He doesn't mention when he'll be back, just no competing in 2017. I guess if his elbow doesn't respond well then he'll have other decisions to make.

Best wishes to the Djoker for a full mental and physical recovery.

I have a feeling he's not done winning slams yet.

Eubanks with another impressive win, this time over Donaldson. Why hasn't this guy popped up sooner on the big tour? He has a lot of skill.

Meanwhile, though I haven't seen anything but extended highlights from Gstaad, the Gulbis comeback seems to be going swimmingly through the first two rounds. All cylinders firing, including the reconstructed forehand.

I believe Eubanks is an NCAA player, so I don't think he was playing much outside the NCAA while in college. He really only played a handful of Futures/CH/ATP in the USA over the past few years. Not sure when he is going pro full-time.

Shapovalov into the another CH QF in Granby. Schnur also into the QF and now into the top 200 for the first time in his career. Speaking of successful college players, Schnur was a top NCAA player at UNC. He turned pro last summer and has been steadily moving up the rankings. Just turned 22, so we'll see where he can go. Another young Canadian hope

Gulbis' competition moves up a couple of notches and so far the results aren't good. Fog dominates the first set with a pair of breaks, 6-3.

2nd set: Flip side of the first. Fabio drops just a notch and Gulbis tightens his second serve and raises his game, 6-4. Some lovely finesse tennis played by both players. Gulbis is actually using drop shots effectively, like he got the hang of it after 200,000 failures.

3rd set: Loose play at the start of the set puts Gulbis behind the 8-ball and he can't recover, 6-3. He seemed to run out of gas a little at times. Good solid win for Fabio and not a bad loss for Ernests. Coming along, coming along.

Judging from his colours and the blaring fight song, he's from Georgia Tech. In Atlanta, so it figures. Well, he's getting his clock cleaned today from another NCAA-ish type player, Ryan Harrison, 6-1. 3-2. Mostly nerves, I think.....Ends up 6-2. Flashes of his skill, but Eubanks is obviously not used to getting manhandled and seemed flustered and, eventually, just overwhelmed. Welcome to The Bigs, kid.

Shapovalov plays Polansky next, whoever wins will reach a new career high

In Bastad, Siniakova takes the first set from an off form Wozniacki, 6-3, and then, rare occurrence, both women call a simultaneous medical time out for arm problems.

2nd set: tentative, error-prone tennis from both women as they try to manage their physical woes while remaining competitive. Woz gets the early break but can't hang on, 6-4 for Siniakova, who wins her first relatively big tournament. Future of women's tennis continues to look very bright as yet another young player stakes her claim.

NA HC season in full swing now as we hit the 500 event in Washington. 5 Canadians in the event (2 men, 3 women). Raonic should be considered a decent fav in this tournament. He did win back in 2014.

In the Chengdu Challenger, Yusuke Takahashi of Japan defeated Hiroki (How do you solve a problem like) Moriya, 6-3, 7-5. The interesting point about it was that it was played in front of no one. The usual stationary camera position for Challengers was in use, meaning I got to see only half of the court. Presumably, a couple of coaches were sitting on the other half, but that was still pretty weird. Perhaps tickets in China are too expensive, and it is simply a case that the Chinese literally do not have a yen for tennis. Another odd stat: Moriya went 0 for 16 on his break point attempts, before he finally broke late in the second set.

Sounds like Federer and Nadal are playing Montreal next week.

Not sure about Murray right now.

Stan won't be there or Cincy. Hopefully he is healthy enough to try and defend his US Open title.
