Like pretty much everything else, it will depend on how well it's implemented. How do you define locality? This is easy for jobs that previously came with office space access. Not so much for new ones. You know how the rounding is going to go with this. If you live in New Brunswick, are you in the NYC or PHL metro?

People are going to try to game the hell out of it too, I'm sure. But it's going to have to be sorted. Some companies will handle it well and others will be abject disasters.

Agreed. Provided they use the more general locality rules, I don't see a problem with this. Ie Metro NY, Metro Philly, etc. If they start digging into like sub divisions of counties, that's a problem. There are some potential issues with this type of pay scale though, to be sure. My buddy works for the federal court house in philly. He has a colleague who does the same job in Scranton, or somewhere north up there. Despite that area having a lower CoL, my buddy gets paid less because Scranton (or whatever it is) falls into the Metro NY pay scale, not the Metro Philly.

Reopening Universal: June target date set

ORLANDO, Fla. —
Universal Orlando has proposed a plan that would allow it to reopen to the public on June 5.

The Orange County reopening task force unanimously approved the plan, but it must also be approved by Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

“This would be a gradual reopening,” Universal Orlando executive John Sprouls said.

Sprouls said Universal would like to start the reopening process on June 1. Only team members would be allowed into parks on June 1 and June 2.

On June 3 and June 4 Sprouls said Universal would be open for limited availability to some passholders. When the park does reopen to the public, capacity will be limited.

Universal is the first of Orlando’s major theme parks to announce a target date for a reopening since it closed in mid-March because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Seems to me that every team with a bye is at a huge disadvantage compared to teams that get to play games.

I'm assuming they don't finish the regular season.
I think it’s still a disadvantage, but in the NHL thread Curu posted the top 4 teams would play a round robin that could lead to seed changes. I think our would given the standings. Otherwise, seems like they are just warm up games. Nothing to lose for us.

invest in monorails

Because the money has to be speculated and hoarded. We don't even have a legit HSR...which is pathetic. Cheap money due to the Fed liquidity spigot on full blast yet nothing really invested in the real economy or public infrastructure that will net a legit long term ROI that makes the economy more competitive.

Instead we got crumbling roads, bridges, gas and water lines...and of course dams.

Looked like there was some bipartisan agreement about extending the window to use the PPP money from eight weeks to sixteen and Rubio and Co. hoped to vote on the bill today.

Nah, they ended the session and won't be in session again until June 1st which is long after a lot of these eight week windows are over.

Cool, cool.

It's certainly not the advantage it would be at the end of a normal season, but I would strongly suspect it's still a net positive for making it through Round 2. Even a huge Round 1 underdog is going to win the series ~30% of the time.

What I have no idea how to suss out is how having a Bye in Round 1 would influence your chances of winning in Round 3 or later. Is there a sharpness gain for Games ~6-14? Do injury risks outweigh that? Does having a quality 2G mitigate a good portion of the latter?

All these “add extra teams” playoff scenarios are fraudulent and most likely designed by misanthropic fascists.

Also, goldfish are snacks only a nihilist could love, Sean Connery is the only legit James Bond, and I wish I owned stock in pornhub.

Thus endeth the lesson.

I forgot to mention when we were talking haircuts... facial hair does impede a positive seal for masks. If your rocking a ZZ Top, that n95 is more like a n38.

I also heard a story on the radio where mail in ballots were printed with the wrong instructions, fill in bubble to the left when it was supposed to be to the right. Also that too much personal information, including signature, is on the outside envelope.

The goalie question is the one I wonder about most. I think players should be rested enough that grinding through these playoffs won't be as grueling as it would be if they were coming off a full season and preseason; what I wonder about on their end, is what happens next year? Offseason rest and workout schedules are going to be shredded. But no matter how rested a goalie is, there aren't many out there (Maybe just Price, off the top of my head? And he's had a down-ass year) who I'd trust to reliably handle the load of an entire extra round without wearing down. The position is physically and mentally demanding. As it is, in most cases, hot goalies tend to burn out after a round or two.

The plus for us is that Elliott can still be a very good backup when he's fresh, and he should be pretty fresh now. In theory on both counts.

Can a Goalie even play 30+ Games in 2+ months with no build up? Does the weird structure change that? I wouldn't even know where to begin answering that.
