Add in a Marner/Strome and maybe a player like Boeser or Juulsen with the NSH pick and we have the makings of a top prospect pool.

Herzog, Johnson and Engvall scream Detroit Red Wing-esque picks and I think if we let them ripen overseas and in the AHL then we'll be better off in 3-4 years with our own Nyquist, Pulkkinen, and Tatar

Mine's mostly the same, with a couple of changes (Carrick, Toninato). I also tried to spread some of the more proven offense around a little more (Nylander, Brown, Leipsic, Leivo).

Also, Johnson's looked very impressive so far, but I haven't seen anything from Herzog or Engvall (not that I've seen much) to suggest they're anything like the Detroit players. I remember when we had guys like Mikhail Stefanovich and Sondre Olden who were supposed to be our "Detroit" picks. It would be great if they do become those types of guys, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

So far the only realistic top line potential/elite potential is Nylander.

We have no one on defense. There are a few guys like Brown and Percy who have shown maybe one day if everything goes right they can become those players, but it is not very likely.

We have been hovering between 4-6 for a month or so now. If we pick in there, we get one of Hanifin/Strome/Marner/Barzal/good center prospect.

With our late first and the quality of the draft, we might find ourselfs a 2nd pairing dman or 2nd liner. Or if were lucky we get a Taresenko/Hertl type of pick.

So by the offseason we only have for high end talent.. Our pick this year and Nylander... Still a long ways to go.

However this doesn't factor in Rielly or JVR who are young building blocks. Also there are no assets here from any core piece.

After moving out the big names, we might have 1 or 2 potential #1 D's and 2 or 3 potential elite/first liners. Good so far. Now we just need our other picks to work out and get a deep forward and defense group.
