I’m slowly moving past the Schenn Saad type additions. Donato JFK Heinen playing well. I think a move for a rental (dealing 2nd or 3rd round picks) may be the best route. Maybe a guy like Dzingel who you may have some interest in resigning if the price is right.

I’m curious to see what Senyshyn Donato
Heinen JFK Bjork look like at the next training camp. The kid line is getting some invaluable experience right now.

No, no, no don't even go there.

If they want to go anywhere in the playoffs we are looking at competing with teams like Tampa/Washington/Toronto here.
This team seriously lacks a top6 talent from the roster, as did last year.

Just go grab Tarasenko...the thought of having him and Pasta would put us in elite company.

Wed have to get creative with money but why waste another year with Bergie and DK.

I agree they need top 6 talent now. It would be a lot easier if Backes weren’t making 6m. Two questions:

Are you okay moving a package of Frederic Lauzon + a 1st to get that top 6 player?

And does a Schenn put this Bruins team over the top and allow them to contend with Tampa and Washington in a 7 game series?

To switch it up from the Dzingel, Saad, Schenn conversations, I see Andreas Athanasiou as an interesting player to look at if I am Don Sweeney.

Sure, guy plays for Detroit and the Red Wings probably do not trade him in the division. But, Detroit has massive defensive needs and that is Boston's organizational strength at the moment. Again, Detroit will likely ask for an outrageous return for AA. But, he fits the bill to address our organizational depth at center, would address our current scoring depth issues on the third line and the Bruins would retain some team control over his next contract given he will be an RFA after next season.

Why that exact package?

If I had a chance at a potential longterm quality addition I would trade Heinen+ for that player. This team has a massive hole on the Rw and aren't that strong on the middle for high end talent under u30 players.
Getting a player to help with either would be great.

If they believe the kids are enough they are just as well quitting on the season, happy with 1 round of playoffs.

I like the defense, and with a addition that gives them more than 1 consistent line of scoring they have a shot at, and with a non rental addition less work to do for next season.
Don't have to try to fix all the problems during summer, they can start already.

If the Blues decide to move Schenn (they don’t have to, he’s und r contract next season), is it realistic to expect a package of Heinen + a 2nd + Lauzon gets it done? I think it would hurt more than that. They can wait it out and see how desperate a team gets at the trade deadline, or move him in the offseason, or wait until the next trade deadline. I just think if Schenn were available for the packages discussed on this board, quite a few teams would’ve pulled the trigger already.

I’m suggesting they acquire rentals. Cheaper to acquire and they don’t tie up a spot next season.

If Schenn is acquired your center prospects (Studnicka Frederic) will be in Providence next season

If they’re looking for a cheaper rental, Nyquist is having a good season. No idea what he’d cost but it would leave room for another move for 3C potentially.

To me it's time for longterm additions, quality addition. I'm tired of going for the old rentals who don't make an impact.

Don't leave it all for the summer, and given the history there's no quarantee anything major happens during this offseason. We could be wathing another summer of its' only June, wait for July before worrying, it's only July, wait for August before worrying and so on.

There's depth on Lw& LD and not all of them will make it, and with the weaknessess might as well use them in a trade to address a weakness while they have value, so some of the Lw's+ LD's+ lower picks, from 2nd-> are available for me.
Doesn't have to be just Schenn, go calling on Saad as well.

I'm also fine with the 2 in the AHL if they land Schenn, he's a proven +50 point player and there's no quarantees either will become that, or will be that next season.
They were betting on potential for this season and so far it has failed.

I’m actually on board with making a bold move, however I do know and expect it to be for a package that hurts to lose.

If the goal is to acquire an under 30 certified top 6 stud with term left on his contract, then Frederic Studnicka Lauzon Vaakaneinen Donato Heinen and the 1st round pick are all on the table.

not sure if he`d "put them over the top" but the addition of a Schenn sure makes life more difficult for the teams you mentioned

Trusted?

And what happens if there is a management change the day after the deal? Or the day before he is to be traded back?

C'mon Mike.
OR if Los Angeles decides that they '' don't remember" what deal you're talking about?" I'm sure LA is still a little resentful (butthurt) of the Martin Jones deal and would love to screw Sweeney the way he screwed them. LOL they would sit back for 5 years and Laaaaaaaaaugh!
