This pick is the epitome of this whole philosophy of drafting players with hockey roots and background. This guy was hockey 24/7 since he was born...
You enjoy yourself a lot more than me with prospects and stuff.Just like Tinordi, Galchenyuk, Daniel Audette, Tim Bozon, Nate Beaulieu.... right ?
Mark Tinordi, Matt Tinordi hockey dbYou enjoy yourself a lot more than me with prospects and stuff.
Share the background of all those dudes.
Pretty sure none of them would match Romanov's hockey-related background.

Jacques Beaulieu, hockeydb
No, there's so many of them... There's multiple every drafts, I just want to indicate it does not mean anything. Is it unusual that the Habs have picked seven (you forgot Verbeek and Primeau) players with hockey bloodlines in the past decade?

Yeah, Belial stated this as if it's some new grand strategy, when it's actually been a reality for long, way before Bergevin. Saku's father is an ex-player in Liiga and coached. Valeri Bure's father was an olympic medalist. Price's father was a drafted goalie, ect.. Those are just ftom the top of my head, there are quite a few more. No, there's so many of them... What happened there?well Fleury knows how strong he is.
2010: Tinordi, Gallagher (somewhat, his father is a WHL conditioning coach)Is it unusual that the Habs have picked seven (you forgot Verbeek and Primeau) players with hockey bloodlines in the past decade?

You legit didn't know Romanov sat down Cale Fleury during bubble drills? Posters "who play it down" said well Fleury was playing the forward role which isn't his job, but... it was a good sit down lol.
Unrelated to Romanov but this is great news for Anderson. That's a lot of time to rest properlyWe all know Fleury is a young rock out there. He stood up well against some pretty tough NHL guys so far. Playing forward or D, that was still a drill and Fleury doesn't all of a sudden loose his body strength cause he is a forward.
Romanov just keeps adding to his resume. However, He's going to have a very long break from playing hockey. Didn't play with us in the playoffs and when was his last KHL game? March? He might end up with a 10 month break. Longest of any other Habs? Wait, that's Anderson... his last game was Dec 14th of 2019.

The thing that some posters are missing is that size isn't everything. There are plenty of smaller players that are very physical and can punish players with how hard they hit. Look at a guy like Kronwall, Kaspariaitis, Dustin Brown, Richards, Clutterbuck etc. are all 6' or less and could absolutely annihilate guys. The list goes on and on and it's always been this way with size playing little role in how tough a player plays or how hard they can hit.
Kronwall is one of the players I think of as a comparable for Romanov.Man would it be amazing if he can be as good as Kronwall.
