Could we crowdfund it?
No, we couldn't. No he can't. The deadline passed a long time ago for him to buy out his contract. He's not coming over this season, short of Molson buying the KHL.
See below for more info
If CSKA were to release him it would be so he could go to the NHL so if they got past that hurdle I don't think the VHL team would be a problem. I believe Friedman touched on the Habs interest in bringing over his teammate Konstantin Okulov and stated that since he's under contract for next season it would require CSKA to grant him a release.
So while it would seem unlikely, it would fall to CSKA if they wanted to grant a release to either player and I could see where the Habs would at least attempt this so that the young Romanov would have a friendly face at camp at least and perhaps teammates depending on where both ended up. It sounds like a shot in the dark but hard to say what really goes on over there in terms of them granting a release or not.
Nothing stopping the Habs from paying him a little more then the minimum to get him to come over but he would have to get a release from his KHL team.
The Bob Hartley's thoughts on Alexander Romanov
Romanov is a Gagarin Cup Champion. CSKA swept Avangard Omsk in the finals. Even though we know he barely played whenever he did.
To be with his mentor Nesterov tho, he won also some precious advices.
Yes; the CBA does. Also, he’s only allowed a 92.5k signing bonus as a rookie. That’s all Montreal can contribute
You're right, I mixed that up but Montreal can also call him up for just a few games or keep him on at the beginning of the season and he would be paid more then in the KHL.
I’ve only watched Romanov online & at the WJC and man he looks like the real deal. I must admit to being disappointed when we picked him but I’m now all in. My only concern is that it takes him 2-4 yrs to come over.....that would be a big setback given the leagues youth movement. I love how young Makar has signed & stepped right in with the Av’s.......I hope we get this kid in the lineup sooner rather than later.
I think he'll be here in a year.
Lately, I had amply of time in my journeys to kept a look on Romanov during the 2019's Gagarin Cup. Unluckily, he get benched as fas as the competition continued. The concurrence he's facing gonna make him train more. He learned how to be a professional player tho. Nothing scaring him. He had full confidence on himself.
No, he can’t be called up for a few games. He also can’t attend Montreal’s training camp unless he sign an ELC and that can’t happen until the 2020-2021 season
Being at Montreal to chill there at the summer vacancies isn't permissible on his contract too?
He can come to development camp though, no? That is, if he wants to.
What’s your point? He’s allowed to do whatever the **** he wants except play for the Montreal Canadien next year. What’s so hard to understand?
I’m not too sure about that one. Was he there last year?
No he wasn’t here. I remember the D group last year was pretty bad, I think was injured and the only D with potential was Fleury
“I thought I was going throught out the end of the second or early third round. I was surprised. Surreal and impossible to explain...”
“It was an overall twenty minutes interview with the Montreal Canadiens... But in addition to that I've been in the Montreal Combine and we had many meeting throught out my draft season...”
“One thing I can say is that throughout the entire draft season I gave everything I could on the ice. And I did everything I could to play and play well.”
“Universal defenseman... I can play both sides...”
“After the conclusion of the contract with CSKA Moscow I hope to come and join the team...”
Good to hear he can play both LD and RD. Right now we have more right D's. But that could easily change in 5 years. Finding D to play a certain side has become a problem. I hope North American D start to be taught how to play both sides like European D.
Better than Samurokov
Well if we can have him in the lineup in 3 yrs, I’m in!
He'll be in the lineup for 2019-2020
He's still under contract for another year in the KHL. Earliest we can have him is 2020-2021
