im no expert on russian eligibity rules..
not sure if hes still a possibility for this year... not sure if he would translate to a star talent here or just be a 3rd line plug (or possibly not even crack the lineup) but i recently refreshed my understanding that teams with too many inexperienced players have a hard time winning

koko has been paying his dues. he has become a mature player. hes at his peak age.

i wish we could see him on a 1 year prove it tryout deal here this year. i wish we promise him we will lend him back to khl if he cant make the team.

let him play for an nhl career and the big money

It is actually breaking out very well for Boston. As of today he’s amazingly still only 24

Khokhlachev will be at a perfect age when he can come over next season

In one year we should have clear or clearer pictures on the status of all the Boston centers be it Boston or otherwise

Bergeron
Krejci

Are they slowing down?

JFK
Frederic
Kuraly
Studnicka

Where are they even playing in April?

Did Heinen or Donato convert to center?

And how is Khokhlachev performing

He may very well be a viable candidate

If I’ve leaened anything the past few years anything really is possible

He's not!

The NHL and KHL have an agreement not to sign players who are under contract with the other league. He would need a transfer card signed by the Russian Hockey Federation, IIHF and USA Hockey and the first two will never sign off with the agreement in place between the two leagues and KhoKHLachev already under contract in the KHL.

thanks dom, although I will feel a bit disappointed. I know when we drafted koko I went on record on d day saying I didn't expect him to have a career with the bruins but this is one case where I will be very happy the day I get proven wrong

In the situation you mention, you should be very happy every time you are wrong. At least when it comes to the Bruins.

I chuckle at the grief Kokho takes for re-upping for a year in KHL.

I wonder how low a station in life some around here would be willing to accept for $1.3M for less than a full years work???

Something tells me being a hockey player in the KHL is not quite the basement some of us would”stoop” to. :naughty:

Looks like he might score more goals than he didn’t last year. Can Sweeney cut some kind of mafia deal with the KHL to get him over here? If only he got the chance JFK has gotten.

Or the chance Kemppainen did
True. You have to think Cassidy, with all his flaws, would at least play Koko given their history in Providence. Cassidy really liked Koko and he was a harder worker than Spooner from what I could see. Spooner got by more on his talent but Koko had a motor that never stopped. There was no better time than now for him to play for the Bruins.

For me it’s irritating in the sense we’ve seen so many players get far more playing time that probably weren’t as good but we will never know.
Oh no I agree. Im only joking around.

But you're right we'll never know.

If you compare Koko’s PPG the last two years in the KHL to guys producing right now in the NHL like Kucherov and Kovalchuk, it’s hard not to be intrigued. The guy was clearly talented and showed it in the AHL, just like Krejci and Marchand. I would rather Koko on the team than Cave or JFK.

Waiting for that one poster who has irrationally vitriolic hate for Koko...

A player we will likely never see in the state of Massachusetts. I agree I’d rather see him over Cave.

The timing of the bumping of this thread intrigues me.

The best poster on HF messaged me yesterday about this very subject.

He becomes a UFA on May 1, 2019. The last possible date for the KHL final game is April 25, 2019.

As per the working agreement with the KHL, NHL teams will not talk contract with players signed to KHL deals. However, the Bruins could have negotiations with his club as to buying out Koko's contract and then signing him.

This isn't a Carl Soderberg situation in which it will cost 300K however. The sooner you want Koko, the more it's going to cost. Starts at $1 million +, then you've got to pay the player and I imagine it's going to take a hefty signing bonus. (Soderberg got 500K to play just 6 games back in 2013).

It probably ends up being a $2.5 million investment at minimum (depending on when you would bring him over).

From a business standpoint, does that make sense to do?
