Just vote for the better player, taking into account peak, prime, longevity, talent, accomplishments, awards etc.

You can argue for Allison based on extended peak:

Allison:

Four top ten assists finishes
One top ten goals finish
Two top ten points finishes
Finished ninth in Hart voting in '98

Tanguay:

Fifth in Calder voting in '00
Two top ten assists finishes
One top ten points finish
Won a SC with the Avalanche in 2001

I'll go with Tanguay based on longevity basically and because of his 2001 playoff run.

I reeeeaaalllyyyy hate to do this (bumping = ugh), but I'm going to bump this to give people who haven't checked it out an opportunity to vote. I'll be at work when it times out tomorrow afternoon. Only 25 votes so far.

Allison was BY FAR the better player in his era. When the league got away from clutching and grabbing, his poor skating showed. In todays league it would have been even worse. Tanguay would be a safer pick for all eras.

Shocked by the poll results. Do people realize that Allison scored 95 in the middle of clutch and grab?

His best season was certainly better than Tanguay's best, but he had 34 points in his 6th best season. While Tanguay might not have been a star, there are 10-12 seasons where an average team or better could have put him on their 1st line.

Nobody cares. These polls and brackets are stupid.

Hmmm... the voting turn out for these polls is always decent to quite strong, so you really should be speaking for yourself.

There are plenty on posts on this site that I don't have interest in. I usually don't even click on them. You have the same option.

Anyway, on the topic of ignoring, you're going on my ignore list.

See ya. :)
