Sounds like Petrangelo is gonna test free agency. He is probably the biggest free agent to hit the market since Tavares, and what a sub-ideal time to do so. Does a team pony up 7 years, 8 million for him? Can any team realistically afford to do so, because of cap and new-onset financial constraints?

I don't think it indicates he is not signing with the Blues at all. Cannot blame him for at least taking a look at what kind of offers are out there to help negotiate with the Blues.
Slight chance a team offers him crazy money and term that he might think twice about , but still think he remains a Blue at the end of the day.

If you trade Andersen you need to acquire a #1 goalie. Like, Murray or Lehner won't be cheaper than him.

You have 6 mil in cap to sign at least 4 forwards and fix the right side of the D. Not really possible without drafting and developing some young talent.

St. Louis is just as much home as Toronto at this point, maybe more so. These guys end up playing much of their adult lives in other cities, often marry local girls and have families, and then become part of the community. Petro might end up in Toronto but let's not romanticize it.
