You guys just got a great and sometimes very under-rated player.
I would have placed him at #4. Congrats!

Future Considerations:

STRENGTHS: Nylander is a smart, super-skilled winger who will make you pay if you give him the tiniest of space. This Swede—the son of former NHLer Michael Nylander—doesn’t let up in possession and is a driven forward who wants to create offense in whatever way possible. He finds his spots in the offensive zone and picks apart lanes exceptionally well. Nylander does a good job of using his shoulder to push off from his check and protect the puck, shifting his weight enough to maintain balance and drive to the outside. He possesses quick feet and some high-end agility, allowing him to explode off the hop and in all directions. His puck skills complement his incredible shot perfectly; he plays with the puck on a string thanks to quick hands and confidence to do something great. Nylander possesses incredible puck skills in tight quarters and can easily stickhandle in a phone booth.
He is quick to escape trouble by combining his puck skills, skating and hockey sense—he uses his quick agility to dash through with the puck in close as he scopes out the play around him to escape to open ice and make a play with the puck. His shot is his greatest asset—it is fast and rocket-like—and he has a deceptive release from in close while in movement. Nylander has the ability to speed up and slow down the play with possession, something that not many players can do effectively. He’s an absolute threat with the puck on his stick as he can push the play, undress defenders, and make a pass you wouldn’t expect or take a deceptively hard shot that makes goalies freeze in their tracks. Nylander has very good timing about when to pressure the puck-carrier and use his stick and slippery play to strip the puck; it’s almost unexpected when he swoops in and removes the puck from the man, making him a threat away from the puck. His offensive upside, thanks to his quick, eceptive release, exceptional vision and hockey IQ, is extremely high.

WEAKNESSES: Nylander has a tendency to ease off at times, which limits his
effectiveness. He isn’t always fully engaged defensively, something he will need to work on to become an all-around threat. He does not play his man hard enough, allowing his check to be free and clear to get the puck and get a quality scoring chance. He can easily fix his defensive play with his high hockey IQ and innate ability to read the game and adapt. Nylander has a bit of a tendency to stand still when in possession offensively, making him vulnerable to being knocked off balance when he least expects it.

SCOUT’S QUOTE: “A playmaker first, Nylander can make the opposition
defense look like a bunch of peewee players. With an NHL-ready shot,
Nylander lights the lamp anytime he wants to. He consistently added
something to his game with each viewing, improving his defensive game
in the process. He will need to add to his frame, but his elusive ability and
separation speed make him a force at this level.â€
NHL POTENTIAL: Top-Six Offensive Winger

McKeen's

Alex appears poised to join William as the first brothers picked in the top
ten of the NHL draft since the Sedin’s went second and third overall in
2000, following a productive season that earned him OHL Rookie of the
Year honours.
“He impressed me at the Ivan Hlinka, U-20’s, and the U-18’s in addition
to leading his OHL team in scoring as a rookie.” noted one NHL scout.
“Pretty hard to ignore his accomplishments; he proved he could produce
at different times with different linemates all season long.”
Nylander displayed all of the tools needed to be an offensive force
at the junior level - speed, vision, agility, stickhandling, passing and
shooting.
“He’s a multi-tool player,” added the scout. “If he was 6-3, he’d be in the
discussion for first overall - he may be the second most skilled player in
this draft.”
Nylander needs to get stronger and keep working on his consistency,
particularly in the defensive zone, but scouts think he was ahead of his
brother in terms of his all-around game at the same age.

This is fantastic, he's exactly who I wanted once the obvious top six were all gone (inc. Dubois, Tkachuk and Juolevi).

complete iss reports: 58
skill:
Gifted winger who projects as a top-6 player with 1st line scoring upside.
Scouting report:
Has that “wow” factor!! Slick skilled offensive dynamo with quick hands and feet. His vision and confidence with the puck are high end. Tries and completes plays that others would never attempt. Elevated his game during ohl playoffs and provided leadership to young steelheads team. Expectations were high with this player at the u18. He didn't 'wow' as much as expected but he played good enough to lead his team in scoring. Outstanding 1/1 skills and play making ability. Slightly built but strong on his skates - changes directions quickly and very good in tight spaces. Calm and poised with the puck and has an nhl shot. Not great defensively, but nothing that isn't coachable, just needs to show a little more commitment to playing a 200 foot game. Selected ohl rookie of the year.
Dir. Of scouting, d. Macinnis: “very gifted offensive player, has all the skills required to play nhl. Has the talents to win games single-handedly.”
iss scout p. Myre: “has speed, hands, exceptional shot, scoring ability. Plays the point on the pp. Exceptional offensive hockey sense, knows how to find the 'soft' areas to score goals. Not always responsible defensively. Big upside for this player.”
iss scout a. Degroot: “makes players better around him. He wasn't as offensive as some nights but understood how to identify on back check and pick up players. He will be a threat in the nhl.”
nhl potential: Top line offensive winger.

Was hoping for Sergachev, so hadn't even thought of Nylander at 8. Lukewarm on this, right now.

I'm glad they went for speed.

Murray sticks a little with the hockey pedigree. Reinhart and now Nylander.

RLR scouting report:
One of the most purely skilled players in the entire draft provided some of the top highlight reel goals of the year. Has exceptionally soft hands and puckhandling skills - stickhandles through even the tightest traffic with ease. Terrific offensive instincts - makes excellent reads and slick set-ups through traffic off both sides of the blade. Has a knack for lurking on the edges, and then bursting through a small crack at just the right moment to emerge with a great scoring chance. Tremendous release on a blistering and accurate shot. Not as good a skater as older brother, but still very elusive with fine east-west moves and agility. We'd like to see more of a 3-zone effort and commitment in the greasy areas - spends far too much time on the perimeter. Rarely initiates contact, and if he's not scoring, he's not helping. But he's a gamebreaker; can be invisible for 57 minutes, then win the game.

Projection: Explosive, but one-dimensional top line scorer

With the negativity there about his defensive game, I feel like I should note that he PK'ed frequently.
