No. There were quite a few posters that advocated trading DeBrincat for Laine. And the Hawks adding Strome and/or draft picks to get it done. If I recall, KBS was on the side of reason in that discussion.
I always said that I thought that Cat and Laine were similar players, but I preferred Laine's size.
This was before I knew how much of a whiny bitch and floater he is.
I thought that Cat=>Laine straight up was fair.

Laine is basically Strome with an elite shot.
Also idk why a Finn would have any issues with Winnipeg anyway, it's not like Finland is any warmer lol.

DeBrincat's goals per game avg is the highest of Hawks players since
Jeremy Roenick's 50 goal season, back in 92-93 and that was the 92-93 season.

That's how awesome DeBrincat's been and that's just his goal scoring pace,
only 1 awesome part of his game

Debrincat has better then hoped for this year. Hopefully he can keep this up for a few years and we can get a supporting cast around him.

I still think Laine will be a great player. To0 much skill.

47 goal pace over a full season! Would be pretty amazing to see him hit 50 one of these years.

Even with the down year last season he is still averaging 33 goals per 82 games over his career.

Pretty good grab his draft year considering the Hawks didn't have a first...Bowmans' best pick I believe

Kevin Hayes(even tho he didn't sign)
Justin Holl(had to develop in Leafs system)
Stephan Johns(never had Hawks chance)
Joakim Nordstrom

Phillip Danault(uncharacteristicly traded)
Adam Clendening(minor leaguer)
Brandon Saad
Klas Dahlbeck(remember him)
Andrew Shaw

Teuvo Teravainen
Vinny Hinostroza

Ryan Hartman(great trade return)
Carl Dahlstrom
John Hayden
Tyler Motte(throw in regret)

Nick Schmaltz
Dylan Sikura(hyped)

Dennis Gilbert(2015 only bad draft for Stan)

Alex DeBrincat(super steal in rnd 2)
Lucas Carlsson(see Dahlbeck Dahlstrom)

Henri Jokiharju(lateral trade)
Ian Mitchell

Adam Boqvist
Nicolas Beaudin(via Hartman)
Philipp Kurashev(via Hartman pt 2)

Kirby Dach

Lukas Reichel

Yup I think he's the best!

You're gonna see more successful picks out of the 2020 draft than just Reichel.

Interesting tit bit of Alex's 32 goals, most of them were clutch goals.
1-0, 1-1, 1-2, 3-4, 2-2, 3-3, 5-5 goals and game winning goals.

He really game Hawks a chance to win games this season, way more than not.
Hawks MVP of this season, no doubt. Like Kevin Lankinen did,... most of the season,
gave Hawks a chance to win games.

(not my video, first are his last goals of his season, then its in order).
