I think he's better liked than Babcock was, but he's every bit as stubborn if not more so.

RNH-Draisaitl-Yamamoto was the best line in the NHL for three months last year and he so far has point blank refused to go back to it. It's f***ing baffling.
It took 25 games, but the media finally guilted him into putting them back together this morning.

If I remember right Hyman clipped him, Smith didn't see who did it, so he went after the nearest player in a white jersey

Neither the folks calling dive or those saying Hyman clipped him are right in the end. Happened so fast you cant see it well on the replay:

(I think it's Bears') stick gets accidentally jammed up high on Smith and Hyman pushing through rips the stick through Smith's face. Check out the flex on the stick before it comes loose.

Ouch.

Just taking a step back for perspective, it's amazing how much more buttoned-down the NHL has become in the past couple of generations. The fact that close to 20 players just ignored this happening is almost surreal... it wasn't that long ago that this would have caused unhinged mayhem in a matter of seconds.

And they're having a hearing over it

If he was gonna waste a paycheque, he targeted the wrong guy, arguably the Leafs worst player lol

If he wants to wake up his team, maybe do it earlier in the game?
Chiasson's a joke. Biggest pretender in the league. Probably already posted, but Bogosian challenged him multiple times and he turned down the fight:

Not to mention Nurse refusing to drop the gloves against Bogosian as well.

Bogo is a shit head who is not worth Nurse's time. Maybe go against Khaira in a useless fight if that makes him feel better.
Fighting is such a farce now and has no place in the game going forward.

Acting like an idiot after final whistle and targeting the head, yeah one game is deserved.

If Nurse is going to act like a big man and get up in the opposing goalies face he should be prepared to face whatever music comes his way from whoever.

"Not worth his time" in a 3-0 game with seconds left in the 3rd after he charges the crease and bumps Hutchinson in retaliation for a ghost collision/dive by Smith.

Edmonton's leadership group is a joke. Their response to getting shutout twice in two games is to turn down fights and make bush league plays in the dying seconds.

My guess is three games.

League wants an opportunity to show how tough they are on unwarranted plays. Especially after the game.

Can't see a long suspension due to how condensed the season as it is. Can't see more than three games due to no real injuries happening.

We will see.

its however you see things.
Stick snatch could have been a 2 min for holding the stick and possibly an instigator.
I cant recall Chiasson ever fighting in NHL as an Oiler so he really wasnt going to drop em with Bogosian.
Nurse is too valuable to the team to be fighting goons. Maybe if it was someone more important. Tavares perhaps.

I didn't even notice this one to be honest.

First time a player has been suspended for something committed against the Leafs is what? 8 years? 10? I can't remember

Nurse is too important to his team to be fighting someone like Bogo when they're toasted. He played it the right way.

I see it objectively. The full video shows Chiasson engaging in front of the net and then Bogosian skates up ice face-to-face with him asking for the fight. The above stick play happens after.

You don't act like you want the fight and then refuse, only to pull this garbage later. Reminiscent of Lemieux-Gudbranson. Bogosian is not getting an instigator when the other player is playing pretender and goading him.

Nurse's "impact" is irrelevant when the game's over. He has no problem going after Mikheyev or charging the crease but when it's Bogosian (or I guarantee Simmonds next game/when healthy), he's all of a sudden too good for it.

This isn't a bad post on its own, but when you consider the below has already been announced...

Just suspended for a game.
