Meanwhile, Simon Després is officially on his way to Team Canada for the Spengler Cup:

Bouchard confirms that Després has been liberated (not just loaned since he was still under the 25-gane PTO). But if he wants to return to Laval, the door is open.

Listened to TSN690 earlier in the week and they mentioned McCarron and said that he's been playing quite well this year for the Rocket. Any hope for him to eventually still crack the Habs before the Habs completely give up on him or have they already?

It will be interesting to see if he gets a callup before the end of the season. If not, would think he will be gone next summer.

An injury or two with the Habs could give him another chance.

If he does get a chance what role would he fill? He could have as hard a time as Deslauriers staying in the lineup.

mccarron is being used in every situation here. they obviously trust him in laval but I don't see him able to keep up in the NHL

Would've been nice if he even panned out as a 4th line center who used his size, played a good defensive game and provided even a little offense. Not looking good for him with the Habs though but we'll see I guess.

Marcoux has been good considering the weak support he's getting.

offence is almost nonexistent. 5 shots all game

They put him on waivers pretty quickly this season and he went unclaimed so he needs to open someone`s eyes.

What were the Habs projections when they first drafted him? Think they should aim for difference makers with their top picks. Maybe they saw something that has`yet to develop.

He seems like an A1 kid so would like to see him find his niche somewhere.

When the Habs drafted McCarron I have no doubt he was drafted mostly because of his size since the Habs were a very small team at that time and pretty much still are. Apparently big guys take longer to develop so hopefully for Mike he's a late bloomer and makes it somewhere in the NHL even if the Habs do part ways with him.

habs had a hard on for maccarron's size after suffering the Smurf years. he didn't look too bad at first but lost whatever edge he had after a couple of years under Lefebvre. his skating was never strong enough so he would never have amounted to much

The more things change...

I did compare the Rocket`s roster last night with the Habs in Zona the night before:

Rocket 6`1.5 201 lbs 23.5 yrs averages
Habs 6`0.1 193 lbs 26.5 yrs avg

They`re still a small team (8 players Under 6 foot by my count compared with 2 on the Rocket).
