It's more than the points that I have noticed..plays well on the PK, dominant in all 3 zones. Points or not...he is playing great

Yes, but he needs to sustain that. He's been there for 22 games, so where was that the other 17? He's been a good AHL player, but he's pretty far to even being penciled as the 14th fwd.

With todays win what are their chances of making the playoffs?

Is it still the top 3 of each division +2 wild cards per conferance that make it?

Top 4 of the division makes it. In a batlle with Comets, Crunch, Devils and Marlies for last 2 spots.

they are 3 pts out with 17 games left, they will need some help from the Habs in the form of Alzner, Ouellet, Hudon, if they get Hudon and one of the blueliners it could get real interesting, if not it's going to be very tough.

The way they are coming together playing better defensively I like their chances

they are playing well since cleared out the vets and no Kindaid helps a lot, Primeau getting hot at the right time is huge as well.

That said they need Hudon badly as Kotka has to have someone to put pucks in the net, hopefully Ylonen can chip in a decent amount of offense.

Up next they have 2 on the road vs the monsters, got to sweep them. Then Sens then a huge series vs a red hot devils team who we are fighting with for one of the final spots.

They play the Sens 4 more times
they play the devils 3 more times
they play Utica 2 more times
they play the marlies 2 more times
they play the monsters 2 more times
they play the thunderbirds 2 more times
they play the crunch 1 more time
they play hershey 1 time (one of the top teams in the ahl)

He could have a chance to crack the Habs line up next September as a #4 centerman or #13 forward.
Is he UFA ?
The way this season unfolded, I'd prefer proven NHL players as #13 and #14 forwards. We need to have 2 players on each line and as extras who can slot in higher up the lineup and not look out of place. Depth is the only way to compensate for the lack of high-end talent.
But Dauphin is certainly making a case for an NHL contract and a place in Laval's lineup next year. He's a solid player.

The funny part is that the people who think he should be given a chance in the NHL are likely to be the first to blame MB for having him in the lineup

Will the AHL team finally turns it around? Would be a good start to build a winning structure.

Their play is night and day since the Varone/Barber trade. Getting rid of Peca helped too.

If Bouchard can get a bit of help by having Ouellet, Hudon and Evans back, I think they can make it. Especially if Ylonen can adapt.

What management needs to realize is Bouchard works well with young players and veterans who can accept the role they're given. Maybe go for more french players to fill those spots, Dauphin, Belzile, Ouellet, Veilleux and Hudon have all shown a great work ethic.

It would help to make the playoffs this year. It would give KK some valuable experience and it would set the stage for next year, where we should be adding quite a few prospects.

It's gonna be hard for Habs to send back Hudon, Evans, Ouellet or Alzner.... With injuries to Drouin and Mete, and trades of Thomson and Cousins, the Habs roster is also pretty depleted.

Unfortunately the Habs will be in Florida this week so they'll have to carry extra players. But when both Montreal and Laval are at home, nothing stops them to assign Evans/Hudon/Alzner/Ouellet down to play with Laval and be called up right after. If they dont play on the same night, of course.

For exemple after Saturday 7th the Habs are coming back to Montreal and their next away game is on the 15th in Anaheim. So that's a full week where you can send the guys down.

March 10th Montreal plays at home
March 11th Laval plays at home
March 12th Montreal plays at home
March 13th Laval plays at home
March 14th Laval plays at home

Will be interesting to see the roster moves

Philippe Maillet, Frederick Gaudreau, J-S Dea, Dannick Martel and Kevin Roy could be options if that is the plan (all have 0.55+ PPG this season). But OTOH, Grenier sucked balls last year.
