News & Notes:

- Laurent Dauphin (acquired in the McCarron trade) will debut tonight for Laval. He will center the third line between Cox and Alain.

- Josh Brook will sit out. Joel Bouchard said he's played every game this year and he feels he might need to take a step back for tonight. Christian Folin will be in the line-up.

- Phil Varone will make his long awaited return tonight. He will center a line with Barber and Veilleux.

- Lukas Vejdemo draws back into the line-up after his stint with Montreal. He will play on the wing with Hudon and Evans.

- Evan McEneny, who was signed to a PTO a while ago, has been signed to an AHL contract with Laval for the remainder of the season.

Concerning making Brook a healthy scratch tonight: Bouchard says that Brook has played every game this year and they haven't given him a chance to step back and look at it from a different perspective. Bouchard clarifies that it's not a case of being dissatisfied with Brook's game. He also said that they are playing 3 games in 3 nights this weekend. So chances are he will draw back into the line-up quickly.

Marcotte says that presently, there is a very good vibe around the team this year. A vibe he didn't feel as much since he started broadcasting the games (when Laval debuted two season ago). He gets the sense that the team and its players feel like they can accomplish something special this year.

It's them the only positive thing we had.

And the good news is that with the returns of Barber, Vejdemo, and Varone, the line-up already looks much more complete than it did just a few games ago.

A lot of credit to Bouchard and the players who were able to stay within the fight and battle hard despite the team missing some big pieces. Now it's up to the returning pieces to keep this trend established by the depth players.

Wouldn't it be insulting to the AHL players if they sent down some NHL players to enjoy the Cup run and then benched the AHL players that earned it?

The Lightning just called up one of the forwards from Syracuse a little before the match. So the Crunch will be playing with 11 forwards.

a few posters took some jabs at me for saying Laval was a top 10 team, to which I fully think they will be by the end of the regular season as long as we don't lose an entire top 6 and top 2 D again. This could be a very interesting year for Laval depending on what MB does by the deadline.

I wouldn't worry about as you can't play in the AHL playoffs unless you are on the roster by the trade deadline so only Poehling, Peca and Weise would be guys they can send down and the later 2 will be down there as soon as we get some bodies back.

Is Brook beginning to bust?

no but I have readjusted his upside and likelihood of reaching it. He's looked good and bad at times but he still looks like he's going to be an NHLer most likely as he has the tools but I am worried about the IQ a bit or maybe a good bit.

Is Brook beginning to bust?

No. He's not having a great season offensively. But he has improved since the start of the season, particularly defensively. You also get at least one or two moments in a game where you see that he's a smooth skater and has some real nice rushes up the ice going past guys.

It may look like he's a bust because of his lack of production.

GOAL! Riley Barber ties it up!

No assists on the play as he simply stole the puck from a defender in front of the Crunch net and scored.

Great defensive play by Olofsson there as Syracuse made a nice passing play to someone on the second post and had Primeau at his mercy. But Olofsson kept his stick on the Crunch player's stick and prevented him from getting a clear shot on the open net.

a good play from Varone to put pressure on the defender let led to the goal by Barber.

On the goal against it was a defensive breakdown as both defensemen were behind the net and whoever forward was supposed to cover Conacher didn't.

Good pressure by the Dauphin line. Dauphin gets hit from behind into the boards and draws the penalty.

Laval heading to the PP.

Losing pucks in this area are suicidal at the last minute of the period... Plus allowing a goal because of that it's worse...
