boy did we need that, both Evans and Barber getting goals, just their 2nd on the season for each. Hard to believe that Barber was one of the best goal scorers in the AHL last year but he's been heating up and that's huge cause they badly need someone to step up as only Vejdemo has been scoring now that Hudon is gone.
That was more like it from Poehling, he drew a penalty early on in the 2nd and had he converted on that re-direct it would have been a nice goal and hopefully something to build off as he's been almost a black hole of offense for some time now with just 1 point in his last 10 games going into tonight.
I am not watching , is there a reason Even is on the 4th line? He looked great at camp , was really hoping he could be used in the top 6.
he carried their offense in the 2nd half last year but this year it's been a nightmare, coming into tonight he's had 1 pt in the last 8 games and that one was an empty netter. I really don't know what's going on with him, or this team, as to why so many guys that struggled to produce offense. It's not like it's just the young guys either, Barber and Varone have crushed the AHL in the past, Hudon as well and Peca has been a very solid AHLer. But for Evans to be this bad, Poehling hasn't had much of any offense in way too long, Brook you would think after ripping up the WHL he would have more then 2pts coming into tonight, Juulsen has the same amount as him in half the games and he was never much of an offensive play in the AHL.
My one thought is maybe it's due to the lack of a legit playmaker, starting on the blueline. Brook can move the puck but for whatever reason that part of his game hasn't really stood out yet, he's shown flashes for sure. Leskinen might be the next best, Olofsson is ok as is Juulsen. Even at forward you don't have a big time playmaker, Evans is a decent playmaker, Poehling is a solid playmaker but like Brook that part hasn't really shown up so far. Varone is a good playmaker but he's been out and Hudon was but he seems to be much more of a shooter in Laval.
